Just curious...we will be arriving in Disney this weekend (aug. 21) and were curious how the resorts did in the storm? We are staying at POP.......

Thanks.....sending prayers and best wishes to all CM and their families at Disney for strength during this time!!!!

We will be there to help keep FL's economy growing!!!!

The resorts are all fine. The problem is that the resorts have had a serious staff shortage during the past few days. They don't have enough "mousekeepers" to clean the rooms right now!

we were in the Contemporary Resort on Friday night. I thought they did a really good job keeping us posted with news about the hurricane Thursday and Friday. Everything seemed very orderly to me until it was time for dinner. The parks closed at 1 pm and we were asked to go back to our rooms. We were informed via a note under the door that they would be serving a buffet dinner in the Fantasia Ballroom from 6 to 8. I thought that was a bit strange as they were leaving voice mail messagaes for everything else. We took a much needed nap and then at 6 we went down for the dinner. We were told to go back to our room that they cancelled the dinner and that they would contact the guests about getting food later in the evening. Around 7 I felt a little stir crazy. I stepped out of my "cell" and was just looking over the concourse. Almost on queue a security guard came over and asked me to go back into my room. I agreed but asked what they were going to do about dinner. She told me that they were serving dinner since 6 o'clock in the ballroom. I gather my wife and kids and went back to the ballroom. They provided a nice spread of food free of charge. Unfortunately not everyone was served. They shut down the food service shortly after we went through. It was a bit disappointing that they just did not communicate well with the whole dinner idea. Other than that I thought they did a real nice job.

My DH and I stayed at Port Orleans Riverside during the hurricane and all we noticed were very minimal trees uprooted and lots of leaves on the ground, of course we didn't venture out past Oak Manor and the main building. We weren't so fortunate to receive dinner during the storms though.

I can't imagine being stuck in the room and skipping dinner. My husband grows horns and the kids grow fangs when they're hungry.

In resorts where the guest room buildings are separate from the building with the restaurants, guests may have to stay in their rooms to wait out the storm. Other guests who chose to be in the main building might have to stay there until the wind subsides.

You do what you have to do to stay safe. That would be more of a priority to me than eating dinner.

Not eating a meal CAN be unsafe for some of us. As a type 1 diabetic, I have to eat 5 small meals a day to maintain sugar levels. I always keep things in case of emergency, but it's still a scary thought for someone like me.:scared:

AKL held up fine too. They gave out a free box dinner (sandwich, fruit, chips, soda, soup) to everyone and then requested that we remain in our rooms until they heard it was safe. The "lock down" was from about 7 pm -12 am and it was enforced. Animal Kingdom never opened the next day but I believe all the other parks did.
