How did a trip that start out so well end so bad??? Updated 8/17 post 173

Such a cute picture of you and DD!!
I know what you mean about little boys! THis summer I am doing sooo much laundry! ;)

Sounds like a long day already and you still have the dessert party! WOW!

I'm really enjoying your trip report. Where on the Cape are you guys? We live on the Vineyard.

Thanks! This is my first TR and I think it is boring compared to others I have read but...I'm trying. I live in the Upper Cape. Funny...my DH used to work on MV but now he works on Nantucket. Small world.

Boys are CRAZY!!! I am from a family of all girls and had my DD first so the boy thing is new to me. I never knew they don't ever walk..only run!! :rotfl:

It was a long day but very enjoyable as we let the kids sleep in.

Too funny about your son's pants, LOL! Boys will be boys, huh???

I am happy that you had such a wonderful day at Epcot. I am looking forward to hearing about the Wishes dessert party at MK. I've always been sort of interested in doing that.

I'm in. :coffee: Great TR so far. Can't wait to see if DS makes it to EMH. The Wishes Dessert Party sounds wonderful.

As we found out later, he should have just used counter service credits as that would have been a pastry, and two bottled drinks and the pastries were big enough to split. Anyway, when the kids woke up we ate them and left to walk to Epcot.

:scared1::scared1: You must've been really hungry!!! :lmao:

Just joining in and I'm loving to hear all about your trip. We leave in 9 days and I love reading about other peoples' trips to pass the time until we leave.

Do you have any more pics of inside BWV? We stayed in a deluxe CL room at BWI last summer with my mom and sister and it worked, but was a little crowded. My mom LOVES the Boardwalk, so BWV with multiple bedrooms and bathrooms might work well for us. :thumbsup2

I followed you over from Disney Tiger's report. I'm really enjoying it and it's not boring at all. I forgot how busy a trip can be with little ones. My kids are older now, but youngest was 3 the first time we brought her.

Hey, I'm here too and I am LOVING your TR! OMG, I can relate to you on so many levels. Can I tell you, we must NEVER let our sons play together. That's all I'm saying. Yours so reminds me of mine!!! And I had tears in my eyes laughing at the pic of him dragging the monkey harness. First of all, I own that harness. Second, it does pretty much sum things up. LOL! Brendan is so bad at restaurants. I feel your pain at Cape May. But you know, what other place in the world can you feel ok about your child acting like a lunatic at restaurants than Disney. Everyone is in the same boat. It's still so hard on the moms though. Jason gets flustered too but not like me. It kind of just takes all the fun out of it. And oh yeah, did you notice we had the same tshirts for travel day? Love that DISign! Glad y'all had a great first day at the parks. I have done commando and as you know from my TR, I have done slow. Slow is so much better! So, how many trips does this make for your DS? He's only two right? Like I have room to talk. My kids are only 3 and 4 and this trip in December will be their 4th. I wonder if they know how lucky they are?!?

Really, loving the TR. Keep it coming!

Enjoyed your reports to date and hope you post more soon! My kids are now all in college, but I remember those days. I know you are frustrated, but I just laugh because of the memories it brings back. I have boys that are less than a year apart and when they were 2 & 3 and my husband would say lets go out to dinner which he thought was a treat I would say oh please god don't make me. Looking forward to hearing about the wishes dessert party as I have never been

Um...opps. :goodvibes The design is the same because, well, I'm a stalker and I got it from your TR. :lmao: No, not really, I am NOT a stalker but I did get it from your TR. It would be fun if we met up in December. As far as how many trips...I have a little "issue". Although, the people on the DIS may not think it is an issue but my family certainly does. This will actually be the 3rd trip for my DS2. We first took him when he was 10mths. This past May he was 2 1/2 and in December he will be 3 weeks shy of his 3rd birthday. This will be the 7th or 8th trip for my DD7. She started going when she was 10 mths too.

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for being patient. That you also for your kind comments. They are very much appreciated. My memory is failing me already. I really need to write the TR much sooner.

Anyway, we made out way from Epcot to MK. We wrode Buzz Lightyear (the kids LOVE it) and Space Mountain. This was my DD7's first "real" roller coaster and she absolutely LOVED it. She was so nervous before but she said, "well...I'll never know what it is like unless I really try it." SHe is such a smart girl! :lovestruc I am so excited she liked it because my DH and myself love roller coasters too. I never noticed before but there is an arcade where you get out of Space Mountain. My DH waited with my DS as I went on with our DD first. Then I waited with my son and my DH went with my DD again. She really learned to love Child Swap as she went on all the rides twice. While they were in there, I put $1 in that little claw machine and got my DS the cutest little black bear. He was all excited and gave it a great big hug. Ought oh....my DD got off the ride and, apparently was upset I did not get her a bear too. I tell ya...sometimes mom's just can't win. ;) We also did the TTA, twice in a row in fact, as my DS2 absolutely loved this ride - except the part when you go in the dark. He became a pro at saying, "one more time" and tried this at all the rides. :rotfl:We also rode Pirates of the Caribbean - my DD's all time favorite ride. Up until that point anyway. She know has a new favorite ride which I will get to, eventually. Anyway, we made it to the Dessert Party location at about 8:45pm. We had 9:00 reservations. There was already a HUGE line. They did not seem very organized that night. They gave everyone wristbands as we waited in line. We were then escorted to our table that was decorated with Mickey confetti. All of the tables were actually. I thought this was a nice touch. I felt the tables were way too close together. It actually made it difficult to get up and get desserts/drinks. It was a very hot night and I was really jonesing for soda. I just love my Diet Coke. Anyway, there was none to be found here. There was lemonade, water, and coffee. So...I just sucked it up and had water. There was a Photopass photographer there as well so I got a really nice family shot.

We could also hear the Electric Parade and see the tops of the tall floats. This actually frustrated my DD as she could hear it not see it. I knew we couldn't see it but I "thought" it wouldn't be a big deal...WRONG! Anyway, the desserts were just okay IMHO. I would liken them to the desserts at the buffets. My son liked the fruit and my DD liked the chocolate covered strawberries but that was about it. One thing that I was a little disappointed about was that the smoking area was under us and there was a slight breeze that kept blowing the smell to the dessert area. I'm not flaming smokers in any way - they were in there designated area - I was just a bit disappointed the dessert party was so close.
Here is a view of the fireworks...
wishesfireworksfromdessertparty.jpg

Sorry...I just have a regular old cheap camera so the pics aren't that great.
When the fireworks began, we walked to the wall to watch. We didn't have to. We could have seen the fireworks just fine from where we were sitting. There was plenty of room for everyone to see the fireworks and they piped the music in. After the fireworks, we just sat around as they cleaned around us. Then we left. Am I glad I did the Dessert Party...Yes. Would I do it again...no. The view outside Main Street bakery was a little better I thought and I could save a lot of money by just getting the desserts there.

Anyway, after the party it was EMH. My DD was raring to go and, surprisingly, my DS had not had any fits that day. I learned to just roll with it and when he is having a good day...we have a good day. So, we went on a couple of other rides. I don't remember them all but I remember our friends left as we went on Pirates of the Caribbean, yet again. Their kids were getting stir crazy. I looked in the stroller and what to my wondering eyes should appear but a darling little 2 year old sound asleep. So...my DH and DD went on Pirates of the Caribbean without us. After that, we decided it was time to go back to the resort. My DD wanted to go on more rides but we explained it was time for her brother to get to bed. I don't really remember how we got back to BWV. I'm thinking we just took the monorail to Epcot but I don't really remember. Either that or we took a bus. :confused3

Next up...Park hopping with Animal Kingdom and Epcot. Dinner at Coral Reef.

Oh, by the way, even though I am nowhere near done with this TR, I have started a PTR. I am crazy!!! Anyway, you can find it here....

Hope I am not too late to subscribe! Loving your TR!

We went last year when my son was 3... and did experience the same kind of toddler technical difficulties you went through. We're hoping he will be over that by our next trip!

Lovely night at the MK. How brave for your daughter to tackle Space Mountain. Did she feel she could ride anything after that? My youngest was 4 when she rode Test Track for the first time. After that she thought she could ride it all. The very next morning she insisted on riding Tower or Terror. She did but I don't think she was too happy once she got off. The ghosts scared her not the ride.

I could sure go for a chocolate covered strawberry right now.

I was very proud of her. Funny...she did think she could ride anything - except ToT. She did try....but left in the chicken elevator. I was honest with her and told her I wasn't sure she would like this one. Like your DD, I thought she would be okay with the drops but I thought the ghosts might be too much for her.

Love your family picture in front of the castle. Everyone looks so happy!

The dessert party sounds like fun. I know what you mean about that area being so close to the smoking section. I am not flaming smokers either, but the smell does bother me sometimes. I can understand how you felt about that.

Just wanted to post quickly that I have not forgotten about my TR. I will have my house to myself for a couple of nights so will have time to sit down and finish up so look for updates - probably will be done by the end of the weekend. Then you can join me over at my PTR because I am crazy and planned another trip for December. I just left too much to do during this trip and had regrets. ;) So that gave me justification for another trip. :rotfl:

Ok, I really thought I responded to your latest post but I guess not:rolleyes1 Sorry. I totally meant to. I can' t wait to ride the new space mountain. We didn't do it in March.

And, I know I read your PTR but I am very bad about not subscribing to threads. I will check...
