How deep is the pool at Hotel New York?

The last time we were at HNY the pool was closed. Swimming is not top of my list when at DLP but DD really wants to do it. However I have heard that the pool in HNY is very deep and most adults can't stand in it as the water goes over their head. Don't fancy having to constantly tread water whilst holding up DD.

Also does anyone know why all the hotel pools are SO cold?? We have been in both NPB and DLH pools and both were freezing. Maybe this is ok on a nice hot summer's day but when we were there in 2010 there was snow on the ground outside and the water was freezing. They had a sign up at DLH saying the pool was at a temperature of 28 degrees but water temperature obviously doesn't correlate with weather temperature because on a sunny day at 28 degrees you would be warm but in a 28 degree pool it feels freezing. Turn the heat up DLP!!!

I'm 5ft 6in and the water comes upto if not over my shoulders if I recall correctly. The pools tend to feel cold due to them have the outside pool connected.

The water is probably the temperature it states but you have to factor in the room its in is going to be cooler therefore it feels cold plus they don;t have the sun on them due to being inside.. I tend to warm up quickly once im in the water.

Can't answer re depth of pool but re temperature ..all pools in France are supposed to be between 24-28° as they consider that above that the risk of bacterial infections etc are greater.

The same rules apply to changing rooms :)

Thanks Carrie Cat. That's interesting to know. Didn't know it was a regulation. It's way too cold for me I have to say, especially in the middle of the winter. Here in Ireland pools where people are seriously training and swimming many lengths would be very cool but pools which are mainly for kids and for adults floating/lounging around would be warmer.

May have to persuade DD that it's lots more fun in the parks than it is in the pool!!!

Thanks for your info about the depth tennis fan!

I was a bit suprised too and only go swimming in the summer or on holiday where it's hot :rotfl:

Hi!

I'm 5ft 6 and couldn't stand up and keep my head above water so it was exhausting having to tread water with my DD. Cold too! DD found a small area on the side of the pool with warm water in that her & some of the other little ones were playing in, I was just glad to sit down!

Thanks for the info Mum to Belle. I'm 5 feet 5 inches so I haven't got a hope. :crazy2: What on earth possesed them to make it so deep? I've been in the pools at NPB and DLH and although they're freezing at least you can stand in them. Did they think that everyone who was going to stay at HNY was going to be a giant??!! :rolleyes2

You can use kids pool in HNY. It's not deep and water is so nice and warm. That's what I did. Spend time sitting in kids pool with my little ones :rotfl2:
