Newbie here. I wish I would have found this board sooner. :)

I'm just about to book our hotel and tickets for a trip to DL. We're planning to be in the park from Mon 2-25 to Fri 2-29. We planned these dates hoping to be there when crowds will be relatively small. I'm finding that a lot of hotels are booked for the 28th and 29th and now I'm worried that it's going to be too crowded that week for our liking.

Is there something going on that week that I don't know about? Is there a better week to go in the next month or two?

I do not know what else might be going oin that week. The Anaheim Convention Center is right across the street from DLR and local conferences may lead to sold out hotels.

It has been a bit difficult to predict crowds at DLR for the last few years. Many people have planned for "low season" visits only to discover it was way more crowded than they expected.

In answer to your question about a "better week", the answer is "no". You are going in what is traditionally a slow period as attested to DLR's lack of entertainment that week and reduced park hours.

If you get to the parks early and use FP, you can still stay ahead of any crowds that may show up. If you feel like you need another resource look into RideMax at www.ridemax.com.

I have also noticed that in the past couple years the "slow" seasons aren't as slow as they used to be. However, they are still less crowded than the busy times. I think the days you are going sound promising....but of course, you never know. Just try to have a great time even if there are tons of people (hey...it makes for good people watching, at least! haha.) You'll be there on weekdays so I think that should help. Have fun! I'm jealous. :)

HHH,

The hotels are most likely booked for Feb. 28 and 29 because of the Religion Education Congress convention. The REC convention is Feb. 28 to Mar. 2. According to the Unofficial Guide to DL, the number of attendees is expected to be 40,000. Can I get an amen?

From Feb. 22 to 27 there's a National Rural Electric Cooperative Association convention. They're expecting 11,500. They might get a charge out of Disneyland.

Here's a link to the Anaheim Convention Center, which lists upcoming events:

FYI, the National Products Expo West is Mar. 13 to 16, and they're expecting 50,000 attendees.

HTH! :)

AMEN!! :rotfl:

Thanks for the input!

I went ahead and booked the trip. I'm crossing my fingers that the full hotels are because of the convention that weekend.

I'll have to check out ridemax. I haven't heard of it before. Sounds interesting! And if DL ends up being too crowded, we'll just have to wait in lots of lines and have fun watching all the people! :)
