How crowded will the first MNSSHP be? Sold out, ghost town, somewhere in between?

We are planning to go to MNSSHP on 9/15, I have not bought tickets yet. In researching I've read it is the party that CM attend.

Anyone here go to the first one of the year? Please share your experience.

Very good question. I bought tickets as it will be the last night of our vacation, and I don't want to miss it.

I hope someone who's been to the first party before pops into this thread with an answer. We are also going on Sept 15th and have never been to MNSSHP before.

There is a podcast from a couple years ago where the did the first party. I recall they said it was pretty dead. They said the CMs and performers were very into it, I guess since they'd been practicing and it was finally show time. They also mentioned how it didn't get dark until really late, whic sort of takes away some of the mood early. And how blasted hot it usually still is then. I prefer later in October, but if that was when I could travel, I certainly would go anyway. I love MNSSHP; it's one of my very favorite Disney things!!

I went to a sold out party last year and it wasn't that crowded. Obviously certain characters will always have a long line, but the rest of the stuff (most characters, parade, fireworks, all the rides except 7DMT and the dance party) were very easy to manage. No lines at the rides, walked right into the dance party. Picked out a parade spot in Frontierland (highly recommended, much less crowded than the hub).

Because the Parties are beginning later in September this year, cast member discounts aren't available. The 1st party, even if Sold Out, shouldn't have an abundance of CMs in attendance.

I think the party may be more popular than past first parties because of the late start date.

Someone posted that on a post I did about the party. Looks like lowest expected crowds

We went to the first party last year, but I don't have anything to compare it to. I don't know if it was sold out or not. There was a pretty good crowd at the parade, but we walked right on to the rides with no wait. We went to the haunted mansion and there was no one at all in line. We will be there again this year.

That was me, I think. I had looked back over the last three years and the first party was not sold out for any of those years.
