How Crowded Will it Be?

I am assuming very crowded. We are staying for 7 nights, but other family members are staying only 3 nights. They are wanting to visit DCA on the Saturday (our arrival day from the east coast) in October that the Gay Days event is being held at DL Park. I am thinking that visiting Downtown Disney or going to a character meal might be a better idea, but just wanted to get some opinions. Also, I would also assume that most DCA FPs will have been distributed by the time we would enter the parks at 2PM, correct?

Thanks in advance.

It shouldn't be too crazy the days before and after Gay Days weekend, but the weekend itself, especially Saturday, is going to be pretty packed. And if you don't get to DCA until 2:00, I would say the FP for RSR and GOTG will probably be gone. You may have luck with Soarin.

I went the weekend during Gay Days last year. I'm not going to sugar coat it... it was VERY crowded. Fastpasses were running out quickly, and standby times were very high. I'd check the wait times on the app on your arrival day and see if there are any attractions with low waits that you can knock off your list. As the PP said, headliner fastpasses at DCA will be most likely gone at 2pm, but there will probably be at least Goofy Sky School and Grizzly River Run (and maybe Soarin'). It's hard to say with the Incredicoaster... I'd like to think standby lines won't be too awful since it's a quick loader and I'm assuming single rider will still be an option (if that is something your group can utilize). I've also had good luck with RSR single rider even when it's really packed.

If it were me, I'd try to do some of the low key rides in DCA that night, try to snag a fastpass or two, and maybe do an activity like the Animation Academy. If it gets too busy you can go to DtD and get a bite to eat and shop.

As others have said the weekend of GD's will be extremely busy.
Monday will be busy too. It's a holiday, Columbus Day. I feel by Wednesday things might settle down.
It will depend on how Mickey's Halloween Parties are scheduled too.

October in years past was a sleepy slow month. But NOT ANYMORE!!

Last October Guardians of the Galaxy had two different rides. From open to about 5pm it was the normal ride GOTG Mission BreakOut and I believe from 6pm to close it was it changed over to GOTG Monsters After Dark. The FP's/ MP's for Monsters After Dark went online at 3pm each day.

When are you going? That might help people answer your question.

OP said he will be visiting during the Gay Days convention.

For the OP: check the Gay Days website. Usually, the convention focuses on one park each day of the weekend, so DL on Saturday and DCA on Sunday. If this is still the plan for this year, then you might have a slightly easier time hitting the opposite park on each day. Yes, it will still be very crowded because of the holiday weekend. Last year was very crowded. If you plan to attend MHP during that time, get your tickets early. That party will sell out.
