How crowded this weekend?

Coming from up north for our kids tap company performance and this was the weekend they chose. Is it going to be crayzay?

It probably will be. The last 3 years there has been a 24 hour day on Friday and 2012 was pre-Carsland, so it's hard to say exactly. But it's a holiday weekend and those are always crowded.

Safe to say that it will be unbearably busy this weekend. Federal holiday giving everyone and their mom Monday off. Gonna be packed!

I was there Wed. It took us 75 minutes from the time we got off the freeway until we were inside the park. Bring a HUGE dose of patience with you.

Yikes. Bringing patience is always smart! Depending which way you came and at what time, the Trump rally made Wednesday particularly insane. 30-45 minutes is more normal... But expecting a longer time is probably wise for anyone going this weekend!

I have been missing Disneyland lately and, to get a mini Disney fix I have been looking at the app during the day a bit. The wait times for Some of the biggies has been crazy even at 1:00 on Wednesday afternoon. I think it's safe to say it will be a very busy week, all days.

Not all passes are blocked. Signature +, Signature, and Premium are all good. And if Disney has blocked all the lower passes, it's because they expect large crowds.

Honestly this day was not nearly as insane as expected. We drove up from the east bay last night after work and arrived about 2am at Grand Legacy at the Park thanks to an amazing deal they gave us.

We left our room about 9:30am , security line was almost non existent at 9:50 am , got new Signature Passes and got through turnstiles by 10am .

We grabbed Hyperspace FP for 1:25pm return , We got breakfast at Galactic Grill and watched Jedi Training Academy, then rode It's a small world, Splash Mountain , Haunted Mansion , Jungle Cruise - all under 15 minutes each ; Hyperspace Mountain with FASTPASS , Snow White , Mr. Toad , Pinocchio and then Indiana Jones with FASTPASS all before 4:30pm at a very leisurely pace with some smoke breaks and snacks in between.

Now taking a bit of a break at our hotel before our FASTPASS for Star Tours at 7:20pm.

It's been busy but not insane though I've heard tomorrow afternoon and night/ Monday could be the worst but we leave Monday afternoon anyway.

Agree about the lighter than expected crowds today. We arrived around 4pm, cruised right into M&F (we know people who used Uber because they were certain they wouldn't be able to park!), caught the first tram without a wait, went through bag check without any wait, and went through the turnstiles at both parks with little or no wait. It was great! CMs said that things had been busier earlier in the day and that they were expecting larger crowds for the parades.

Our experience this past holiday weekend: if you have a good plan, crowds can be a non-issue.

On Saturday we were at DL at rope drop, a less than five minute wait at Matterhorn bobsleds, got a FP for HSM and Buzz light year, breakfast, walked right on HM, Thunder mountain, and POC, then HSM and Buzz. Then walked to Trader Sams for lunch and libations (after a little shopping in DD). We spent the rest of the day enjoying the DLH and DCA, looking for Disneyland cats, riding rides at DCA (Ariel's, Luigi's, Goofy, Monster's inc, Mater) and then had dinner at DCA. Really, no crowds or long waits encountered.

On Sunday, my wife realized that if the early magic hour is at the other park, crowds are even less of an issue. We started at DL (EMH at DCA), and again, no significant waits (there were crowds at Tomorrow Land, but we only had that experience when we went over there to walk on to Buzz). After rope drop, we walked on to Mr. Toad's, Alice, (breakfast), Buzz, HM, POC, JC, Thunder mountain, and then a brief wait at Autotopia. We hopped on the Monorail and went back to Trader Sams (we get there about 11:20, they open at 11:30 and again, no lines/significant wait). Back to DCA (we are avoiding the crowds at DL at this point) where we did another Mater's, repeatedly tried to get Francisco to pay us some attention-more Disneyland cat stalking), another Luigi's, and then headed up to the Cover Bar where we had drinks, dinner, and then watched World of Color from the bar.

In summary, we were expecting major crowds, but either didn't encounter them/they were a no-show, or, we avoided them effectively with our plan.

We did DL on Monday, and from 8-10 we did tons of stuff with virtually no waits - did PP at rope drop, Dumbo, Alice, Carousel, (then some of us split off to Tomorrowland to grab Hyperspace FP and did Star Tours, others did Storybook, Casey Jr, Snow White), teacups, Small World, Gadget's Go-coaster, met Mickey at his house... Honestly, we went last Thursday at park opening (9), and the first couple of hours on Monday were less crowded.

Then between 10-11 the park was really filling up. We did Tiki Room, Pirates, met a few more characters, watched Mickey and the MM, and at 1:30 we went over to DCA to do Little Mermaid - which had a 20 minute wait (filled the entire queue and even had rope lines open - crazy for LM). We did it anyway since the kids had been promised, but then we left.

Basically, those first two hours were golden, and then by choosing to do some shows and things, we stayed a few more hours nicely... But by mid-afternoon, DL felt packed and DCA was not the relief it can be. If anyone's going on a crowded day, get there early!

Common sense applies to Disneyland, summertime is a peak for DL. Expect crowds, expect lines.

Have fun, enjoy the atmosphere, take it all in. Vacation for most, so enjoy.
