How Crowded is the week After Gay Days?

Wow, it seems like there are a bunch of mixed reviews!! It's either going to be relatively normal, or crowded but managable, from the sounds of it.

I'm glad we're flying in on a Monday and not hitting the parks until Tuesday, sounds like the gay day crowd will likely still be left over, which makes sense. We were originally going to fly in on Sunday, but there were no rooms left in the DLH! So we moved our dates over.

Also, I haven't been out of school THAT long and I've never heard of anything schools having a fall break! What is this joke! Hahaha.

Hey Rainforest Elf: I still think that week is going to be OK. We both picked it for a reason! It is the first full week of October and more than one guide book suggests that is the week to go. Like I said before, mid-week should be manageable. I think Gays Days weekend will be busier and the following weekend with the Halloween Party and fireworks will be, too. Gas prices and the economy might keep school break people from making the trip. God knows airfares are thru the roof so that might help too.

We were planning on one day at DL post cruise (NCL). That day was Sunday Oct. 5. Now I'm thinking that is one of the "Gay days"?? How gay are the gay days? Like some of the over the top pride parades? Or are they Disneyfied? We were hoping for a quiet day at the park without kids, but now we're not so sure. No problem with gays ("not that theres anything wrong with that") but dont want to be overwhelmed with crowds.

It's not a Disney-organized event, it is a group of people who gather and wear red shirts. No parades, LOL.

It's just like the OC Homeschooling Disney meet-up or Bats Day (a goth meet-up), just probably on a bigger basis, and with discounted hotel rates and tickets. :goodvibes

I'm almost secretly hoping there's a big rain storm that week. See, I'm a born and raised oregonian so, i'm used to wet weather *wiggles her webbed feet* and rumor has it when it rains at Disneyland, people stay inside. Wusses. hahaha.

Oh well. With or without the weather on our side, I'm not going to fret over it. I did my research, we picked the same time you did for a reason and there's no changing it now =) Besides. Crowds or no crowds, we'll be in Disneyland!!

i wouldnt mind rain on the weekend
i have to have one sunny day to see pirates island lol

You guys might be lucky anyway, with the way this economy is going, you might have the place to yourselves! LOL Since people are saying it's not bad at this time of year, my guess is that might end up being the case!

I thought it was very busy. In fact, we are no longer going in October due to the crowds. There was one Saturday in particular (the weekend after GD) where the lines were ridiculous. Even rides like It's a Small World had long waiting times. I know there were a few people from this board who went other times in OCtober, and experienced a less crowded park. I am still unable to pin down the times, which is why we decided to try a totally different month this year.

We went October 5, 2006 and it was fabulous. From googling it looks like that was the day before Gay Days started.

Personally, the weekdays are going to be so much better than weekends during that time, so no matter when a person goes I think they should do the bulk of their time on the weekdays...

That weekend is Columbus Day weekend.

Or what people are REALLY celebrating...my birthday. But the calendars do insist on writing Columbus instead of Molly...silly calendars.

Personally, I write Molly's day on my calendar.;)

I just looked, and most of the AZ schools are out all that week. Utah isn't out until the Thurs-Fri following, the 16th-17th.

Where can you find that kind of information?

Oh, boy, now I can't find it. :headache: I googled around and found a list somewhere that showed all the larger AZ school districts and their calendars. Most of them showed the week of Oct 6-10th off. I just tried finding that again and couldn't; but I did see on the AZ Dept of Education that there are classes being held for teacher training and workshops all that week.

I checked earlier this year, and I remember Scottsdale, Kyrene (Chandler), and at least 2 other large districts (I can't remember which ones right now) all have Fall Break during that week.

You'll have lots of canadians there at the same time since our Thanksgiving is Oct 13th. So when in Oct would be a good time then? Gay days is oct 3-5(first weekend), Oct 10-13 is thanksgiving for canadians, so is anything happening Oct 17-19 weekend at Disneyland? Maybe that is the time to go?

I decided to go from Oct 17th to the 25th, I think we will be there long enough so that even if we hit one or two crowed days we will still have a good time.

I found out after I booked about the CHOC walk on the 19th, sounds like that day will be crazy busy but we will be doing Legoland then so it shouldn't effect us.

I just am looking forward to seeing the park all decked out in Halloween gear. Halloween is my favorite holiday!

Also, apparently october 10-11th is a relatively large convention for geeks (like me) called Blizzcon, so I'd expect that weekend and maybe even a few days before/after to be more crowded since it's going to be at the Anaheim convention center. I hadn't even thought about that at all, although, now we're considering adding that in to one of our days since we're all gamer nerds :)

Rainforest,

My husband and I originally had a trip scheduled to visit WDW, but when we found out Blizzcon was happening, we decided to go to DLR instead.

Hooray for the geeks.

I'm going October 22nd and so far it looks pretty good for me. It's the middle of the week and after the out of state vacationers & Blizzcon afficionados, can't say geeks because I love Warcraft:lmao:

I hate to add to the bad news......Yes, your trip falls during many Arizona schools Fall Break and, if last year's experience is any indication, you are in for HUGE crowds. Not just busy, but HUGE. We were there last year during AZ Fall Break and there were thousands of people lined up at the turnstiles every morning waiting to get in. And I'm talking like 30-45 mins before the scheduled opening. The lines went all the way back to DCA. I've truly never seen anythng like it.

Sadly, we will never visit during our Fall Break again -- it was just wayyyyy tooo busy. :(

idk but the school my son was going to go to was off the 12week not the 6th but hay eathier way i dont think it will be to bad. some ppl arent even gona want to do any vacations now thanks to this ecconime. lol
i still think it will be the perfect time for oct
later in oct more and more ppl show up for the halloween partys the closer it gets to that
