How crowded is Memorial Day weekend?

We usually go during Spring Break, but that isn't working for us this year, so despite DH's protestations about the heat, we are going as soon as school is out - May 24, which is the Thursday before Memorial Day. I am nervous about the crowd levels that weekend and I'm trying to decide if maybe we'd be better off going to Universal first since we'll be able to bypass the lines there. Of course, since we only spend 2 days at Universal, that will still put us at Disney on Sunday and Monday. So, how bad is it really? I'm hoping if we are accustomed to Spring Break crowds, it won't seem so bad - or is that just wishful thinking?

Thusday and fRiday may not be too bad but the weekend will be quite crowded. Sunday and Monday will defintely be very full. If, however, you're already used to Spring Break crowds, you may not see much difference. It WILL be hot.

We went this past Memorial day weekend. We arrived Friday and left Monday night. It was busy but nothing like Xmas week. We went on everything we wanted to and had a great time

Thanks for the responses! Just to further clarify 'crowded'.... At what time did the fastpasses for the top attractions, (example: Soaring) run out? We rely on fastpass almost exclusively for the major rides and the problem we had during Spring Break was that they were either gone by early afternoon or the return time wasn't until around 6:00 or 7:00 PM. Will that be an issue Memorial Day weekend?

We were there @ that time and the fastpasses didn't run out. In fact, our last 6 trips started Memorial Day weekend. It's crowded but not awful.Buy water though as it can get really hot!

I hope it won't be too crowded because that's when we're going. It was between that week and Easter week. I'm sure it won't be as crowded as Easter week.

We will also be there during Memorial Day. We arrive on the 27th, but won't start the parks until after Monday the 28th. DH birthday is the 29th, so we will celebrate his birthday and then on the 3rd we are going on a 4 day cruise and renewing our vows for our 20th anniversary. We are excited and can't wait. Our boys will be with us (17) and (14).

I'll be there the week before, and will be departing on the 27th. I guess I'll get to see the progression of crowds throughout the week.
It shouldn't be too bad, I am going to refer to the Unofficial Guide for tips.
Nothing can be as bad as New Years Eve or the day after thanksgiving! :rotfl:

We arrived on the Saturday before Memorial Day. The resort pool at CBR was very crowded that day. We went to the parks for the first time on Sunday and it wasn't that bad, not even as bad as it had been the 2 times we went during our fall break in early October. As the week progressed it got better. I really wouldn't worry too much. If you are used to spring break this won't be as bad as that.

I am SO glad to hear the week BEFORE is not too bad :) We are arriving the 19th and leaving on the 26th. I was a bit worried but you have made me feel better :)

I'm thinking about this weekend as well...guess there's no chance of discount codes, though huh?

We used our AAA discount. If you buy your tickets through AAA you can a great parking spot @ MK.

I have been there for about the past six Memorial Day weeks/weekends. I have recently used TGM and his suggestions for what parks/what days. A few surprises and suggestions I would NEVER have thoughtwould be correct, but he was right on. Not crowded where I was. :thumbsup2
