How crowded is Memorial day weekend compared...

TO other 3 day weekends like MLK, President's day weekend? Does it get as crowded as spring break and say Easter? I am thinking of maybe going down Thursday and coming home Tuesday. Thanks

Well, I went last year on President's day weekend/week and it was California Adventure that was over capacity, not Disneyland. It wasn't as crowded, but there were still many people, perhaps not as much as Spring Break and Easter, or Halloween and Christmas. I would compare it to a regular day at Disney, but I've honestly never seen a regular day such as that. So the only way I can put it was: 'there was the right amount of people'. Lines weren't too long (about 15 min. wait each) and you had room to move around.

In 2008, I was there for both MLK weekend and Memorial Day weekend. I thought MLK was worse than Memorial Day. We actually were fine with the crowds for Memorial Day weekend.

I am thinking that maybe it is not that bad compared to other three day weekends. Of course I have nothing to base it on. :rotfl: We have only been over Thanksgiving, other than that, we avoid holidays because of crowds.

Well one difference is President's DAy weekend has some school breaks (winter break) also happening around then so people can get a longer break by combining Prz Day 3 day weekend with a school break. I do know last November I was pricing out Prez Day weekend, and Memorial weekend and seemed like no discounts available for Prez Day, but there was some for Mem. Day weekend/week. So that tells me Diz expects full hotels for Prez Day but not for Mem Day. One thing about Mem Day...many of the country's very large school districts are not out for the summer yet at that point, but it is in the last month of the school year so they're not apt to pull kids out for a vacation that close to the end of school. That helps keep the crowd levels down. You will see bigger crowds on Sat & Sunday due to Disney being a popular destination for locals (we saw that 2 years ago on Mem Day weekend) but the crowds went down on Mem. Day and stayed pretty manageable during the week following the holiday. We have been there the week before Mem Day several times, too...the crowds levels were low up until Saturday. Thursday & Friday before Mem Day were probably crowd levels no higher than 5. Saturday at the Epcot & Sunday at Magic Kingdom were closer to 8s & 9s at times. Mornings were good, but evenings with EMH at MK was crazy busy (Peter Pan at 120 minutes at 9:00 PM on Saturday of Memorial weekend.) In the AM it was 20 minutes, though, so if you plan to do headliner/super popular kid's rides in the morning you'll be fine. It's nothing like the big holidays, for sure.

Memorial Day is fine. Remember, most schools in the northeast don't get out until June and here in Georgia, our schools might be out by that time but they just are getting out. I think our school year ends (I don't have school age kids but check the schedules because that's when I get a break from insane traffic) the Wednesday before Memorial Day weekend. However, this year it might be later than that because of snow days.

We've gone for Memorial Day weekend for the past ten years and really have not had any problems. It's less crowded than Fourth of July but more crowded than Labor Day. Easter and President's Day are usually much more crowded because of school breaks.

We were pleasantly suprised with Memorial Day last year. We were able to manage crowds pretty well. The worst crowds we have ever experienced was March/April 2008. It was spring break and it was the week after Easter.

We have also been Memorial Day weekend, and found that it was fine. Nothing like a week later when the crowds started to really build. I would definitely go during that weekend.

Its pretty busy - northeast and midwest schools aren't out, but alot of southern schools are out at the end of may. That's the first weekend of our summer stay this year. Its not horrible, but its not going to be walk on attraction calm either. SWW will be going on as well so the weekend itself will be hoppin over at the studios.

I've gone over Memorial Day weekend twice now and will be going over Memorial Day again this year. It gets a little crowded during the afternoons on Sat and Sun but it is still easily manageable. Don't sweat it at all.

Thanks.. I did call Member service and there are some studios available at SSR. Now just to make the decision or not. The airfare is not GREAT like we had in Jan. but it is still not too bad considering the holiday weekend. We also want to go the third weekend in Oct. for MNSSHP (have never done it)..so I need to decide pretty quickly. LOL
