How crowded is it REALLY in July?

I've never been in the summer before. I read the historic attendance which says that attendance is high from June through August - obviously with the kids out of school, more people are heading down to :earsboy:
My husband I would prefer to go in a lighter season...but we don't want to get hit with all the hurricanes or wait until January (I need my fix!!)
So we're planning to go down in mid-July - can anyone tell me what it's like in terms of the crowds? :D Pretty please?

I would go with the term "super-dee-duper crowded"! DH and I felt the same way a couple of years ago and thought we just HAD to go in July. I realize now we should have waited until November/December. That was the only time we left Disneyworld that I felt like we had wasted our money. It was still Disney and we still had some magical experiences but we decided to never go back that time of the year, we're officially November/December visitors 100% of the time! :wizard:

July can be a bit busy, but if you avoid the fourth (week of) you should be ok. I'm planning on doing a WDW on site visit during mid July and expect it to be quite pleasant.

Remember to use fast pass, get to the park of choice early as possible (to take advantage of the cooler morning hours and lesser attendance) take an early afternoon break and then return to the park for the evening.

Drink as much water as you can possibly hold, and wear super comfortable footwear (good footwear, not flip flops or other unsupported sandals) sunscreen, sunglasses and maybe a hat and you'll be fine.

Have a grand time! WDW is FUN in the Sun!

I have to ask- why avoid the last week? That of course is the week I am going for the first time in July(schedule issues- would rather go later). Is that just a busy week or is there some special occasion? I didn't think it would be any worse than the rest of the month.

I have been to Disney in July 2 years in a row and I am going back this year. I did not think the crowds were bad and the heat did not bother me. Just go into a shop or a ride to cool you off. The lines are not to bad either. Get to the parks early and you will be fine.

Disney is great whenever!!!!! :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :Pinkbounc :mickeybar

It can get very crowded, but like previous posters sais, get there as early as possible (preferrably before opening) and you will get A LOT done before the crowds even hit and before the heat gets too bad. You will still have a great time no matter what the crowds are, just remember to ALWAYS have a FP in hand for something, the second you are allowed to have another one you should be getting one. You will be fine.....and heres some pixie dust for ya :wizard:

Thank you for the feedback and the tips!

I believe she meant The Fourth as in 4th of July and the week of the 4th of July holiday - not the last week in July.

Is it busy in July? Yeah.
Is WDW manageable in July? You bet!

Visit the parks early and visit the parks late. Relax at the pool during the day (remember that this is a vacation!). Plan out your dining ressies and you'll be fine.

Remember that you won't be able to see everything, but don't worry about it. We've gone in July several times (the only time we can go is when high school and college isn't in session) and it's fine...hot, but fine.
