I am going no matter what, but I want to know what to expect.

We'll be there from May 25-30th and I think it's going to be packed. I've never been during this time of year, but a lot of the on-site hotels standard rooms are sold out. All Stars, POFQ, POR, CSR, CBR are completly sold out. POP only has prefered rooms left.

We plan on it being hot, humid and packed, But we're ready and going no matter what. We go twice a year and are mostly going for SWW so we won't be pushing ourselves too much.

Hope your family has a great time!!

DH and I were there last Memorial Day weekend. Hot, humid, and packed pretty much sums it up. It was fun anyways!

Last year, it was incredibly crowded. Everything on-site and within 20 miles-or so of WDW was TOTALLY booked. We added-on days to our trip (catching a cancellation at CSR at the VERY last minute) then wished we hadn't. Everything was just so crowded. However, if we had expected such large crowds (had never experienced this over MDW before), I imagine we would have felt differently.

Glad I know what I'm getting myself into before we go!!

Is Memorial Day week considered the week after or before Memorial Day? We'll be there May 20-25 (leaving the THursday before Memorial Day) and just wondering if this is the hot, humid, and packed time everyone is talking about, or is it the week after? I already know it'll be hot and humid, and I know it'll be busy - just wondered if it will actually be wall-to-wall people.

I have been on Memorial week before, probably four times. Memorial Day Weekend is quite busy but I've found the rest of the week is quite manageable. Alot of schools aren't out yet or have just ended. It is hot, but I've never been when it wasn't. If you do the standard operating procedure of getting to the parks early do major attractions first and utilize fastpass you should have a great week, we always have!

We were there last Memorial Day weekend and I didn't think it was packed at all. We managed to ride everything we wanted. We got there early, used FP and had a great time. The weather wasn't great, rained everyday, but we were thankful for it because it was hot!!!

We are going back the Thursday before Memorial Day till the Saturday after. It couldn't have been that bad or I wouldn't be going back!

And are going this year the week of Memorial day!! :cheer2:

Last year I noticed things picking up when we went home on Friday other wise the week before was wonderful!!!! :thumbsup2

I wanted to go again at that time, but my Cousin is going too and her kids do not get out of school till the 25th. So we are checking in on Sunday May 28th. So I figure Monday (Memorial day) will be crazy busy and we are going to AK on that day. Getting there at opening!! :goodvibes
I have asked lots of questions and searched lots of threads on this time of year and most people say the same thing.

Memorial day weekend is busy and then things slack off a bit. Not as busy as mid June to peak Summer crowds. We know it will be crowded, but we have a plan.

If it makes you feel any better.....My best friend decided to join us last week and and called and had no problem booking a reg room at the CBR for May 30 through June 3. Plus she had a pin code attached to her name and got a discount!! :woohoo: :woohoo: So that is a good sign!

Maybe last year was extra crowded because of the kick off of the Happiest Celebration on earth deal???

I am excited!! We will have a great time!

I was there in 2001 and it was hot, humid & crowded - also got bit by a strange-looking bug, but that's another story! Any how, part of the crowd situation when I was there was due to their Children in Harmony choral festival (All Star Music was filled with kids & chaperones). You might want to check to see if there are any events going on and hit the parks where the events aren't to avoid some of the crowds. (Not sure if that helps, but I try!)
