How crowded is it a WDW the week after Easter?

We are in the process of confirming our reservations. Of course, now I'm worried about the crowd. Some friends just returned from WDW with horrendous stories about Fast Pass being sold out for the day and overcrowded resorts. (OK - they are late sleepers and did not arrive at the park until noon.)

Any info on what we can expect at the parks and resorts during this time would be appreciated.

On our last trip to WDW (2000), we were there the week after Easter. We had heard the same things about huge crowds as you had. Everyone told us we were crazy to go at this time, but being a teacher, I don't have much choice on vacation times during the school year. We were pleasantly surprised. We did not find large crowds. We did take advantage of EE and then went back to the resort to relax and swim in the afternoon. Afterward we would hop to another non-EE park. I think we also went expecting the worst and hoping for the best. That outlook along with a little planning went a long way toward making the trip very enjoyable.

My favorite time of the year to go to Florida is April. We always go during the school break. I'm a teacher and my son can't afford to miss school. In Upstate NY some years it is Easter and some years it's not. We always get up early, then go back to swim in the afternoon, and then go back in at dinner time.

With planning the crowds have not been a problem. We ride the big rides first thing in the morning and save the less crowded attractions for when they get crowded. We also learned that if it rains the lines get shorter. Rather than leave the park we stay. One of our Easter trips we were able to ride Splash Mt and thunder railroad over and over again because it was raining.

I think Easter is a great time. The weather is beautiful in April.

We have gone twice during Easter time, once leaving on Easter, and once arriving the day before. Both times it was a little better then I expected. The worst waiting was for our PS's. Especially just around Easter. If you are making PS for that trip try and make them as soon as you are allowed. Then you can get your times better. If you like to eat early you may to better with the waits, they haven't gotten backed up yet. By mid-week after Easter it seemed to be back to normal for PS's.
