How crowded is 3 Broomsticks for breakfast at opening?

We really loved dinner there the other night and wanted to go back this Friday for breakfast at opening. Is it a bad idea to go? There was zero waiting at 3:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. in there this past Saturday.

You need to have reservations through the Harry Potter package to be able to eat there for breakfast. You can always ask at the door but generally they don't take walk ins.

We were just there on April 8th and 9th, and unless it's changed again we were informed at the door that they now accept 'walk-ins' for breakfast as long as it's before 930AM, so we went and had breakfast there! It was quite nice, albeit a bit pricey at $14 per person (beverages are included in the price); we ended up buying 2 breakfasts for 3 and sharing the food, which was perfect. I will also confess that we had a small Butterbeer as one of the beverages (they do subsitute if you ask). The service was super fast and extra friendly and there was hardly anyone having breakfast at the time (it was around 9AM), so we sat outside on the terrace. I miss the place already!

I have a feeling if they are booked up then "its mandatory" and if its hardly booked then they allow walk-ins. They will probably never tell you you're allowed as a walk-in to ensure the privacy and exclusiveness of the package. Its how they make their money. If people buy tickets for it its guaranteed money whether they dine or not.

You are probably right, although we walked in on a Saturday morning. Prepaid or not, the charge for breakfast is the same, so they would make money off walk-ins too. If people who have prepaid don't show up, they would make double the money by accepting walk-ins. We were told at the door (April 9th) that walk-ins were accepted as long as it was before 930AM, which is when they start getting busy. Of course, if they're already full up with prepaid package customers and/or groups, you'd have to settle for lunch instead of breakfast. Bottom line: It's certainly worth asking at the door. Breakfast was a lovely experience!

I'm sure this week is different because of the peak crowds... I was there in early March and they were practically begging people to come in for breakfast.

I went for it -- the place was less than half full, and the breakfast (I chose the pancake platter) was very mediocre. It's got some nice ambiance in there, though, and the staff was quite nice (including the guy at the door looking for walk-ins).

You can not make reservations at counter service restaurants. If you want to make a reservation at Three Broomsticks for breakfast, it has to be with a package.

Yes, packages are hotel and tickets with breakfast. There are also packages that are hotel and tickets without breakfast.

Don't worry if you can't have breakfast at the Three Broomsticks, because lunch is always an option too and no reservations are required for that. If you are going to be visiting when the parks are quiet, you can always ask the super friendly cast at the door if they are accepting walk-ins at breakfast. Again, we were pleasantly surprised to have been able to do this with no problems earlier this month. We shared an English breakfast and a salmon breakfast, and both were really nice. The best part of the Three Broomsticks, IMO, is actually the atmosphere, no matter what the meal or time of day!
