How crowded in October?

Ok, how crowded is it really going to be the first week in October? From the postings on these boards, it sounds like it is really going to be bad. And we thought that October would be great when we booked in February. I really wanted a time where the crowds would be lighter. We can't do anything about our reservations because we rented DVC points and they are non-refundable. DH says it will be fine (just the two of us, no kids this time ) and that I should take it easy, but I'm worried.

It shouldn't be bad in Oct. We are going to be there 10/2-10/9. We always go in Oct or late Sept, and the crowds are never bad.

It might appear that a lot of people from these boards are going the same week, but remember, the people on these boards make up a small percentage of everybody you goes to WDW. So, my advice would be not to worry, it is usually one of the better times of year to go, crowd-wise.

My research shows crowds should be light. However, don't expect it to be empty. I also noticed a lot of people here who say they are going, but I suspect that the majority of people who go do not look at these boards. Or at least that's what I hope!

It is the first week of Food & Wine, the First week of MNSSHP and they are offering the free dining. I wouldn't expect crowds to be light but I don't think they will be unbearable.

We're going end of Sept/beginning of October. Althought I'm not worried, I think there will be more people than typical because of the MNSSHP, free dining, and Food & Wine festival. We're going because of the prior 2.

My ADR's have been a bit difficult to get and the CM's have expressed surprise that many places, which typically have openings, had no availability.

Last year we went end of October and found some crowds due to so many rescheduling their Sept. trips due to the hurricane plus the school break vacationers from NJ/England. I don't expect our upcoming trip will be that busy. And it certainly won't be as bad as the summer!

It definately gets busier closer to Columbus day weekend, British school holidays are a bit later this year so you will probably be safe from the "invasion" up to the 12th!!
