If we were to go the second or third week of August, are the parks Jammin with big lines?

How hot does it get?

If we can go in November instead, should we do that?

Thanks

Depends on when in November you're thinking of going but in my experience the best time in November is much better than the best time in August. It all depends on what's important to you. In August there are fewer rides down for refurbs, the parks are open later and open earlier and there are more options for shows and entertainment...but...the crowds can be brutal, the weather can be HOT, the lines get insanely long, fastpasses run out early in the day for popular rides. A big factore on your timing for an August visit to the DLR is if the SoCal Annual Passholders are still blocked out since the crowd levels change considerably once all passholders have access. In November too though the crowds can get heavier say, the week of Thanksgiving. Like I said, the exact timing can make all the difference :)

My sister and I took our Kids at the end of August 2009. All I can say was it was ridiculously hot. We spent most of our time hitting the park when it opened, hanging out til lunch then heading back to the hotel til after dinner when we would head back to the park. I don't know how people stayed in there all day. It was well over 100 degrees. We found it really uncomfortable.

The crowds weren't too bad though. Most of the rides were about a 15-20 min or so wait with the odd 30-40 min line. We would just grab fast passes for those then do the shorter lines.

The Dobies were in Disneyland the second week of August 2010. It didnt get hotter than 75 the whole week. It was wonderful. I have gone in October and been hotter. The crowds were there but it was very manageable.

We were there this year from August 13 to August 24, yes it was hot but we enjoyed it coming from winter here at home. Not unbearable though and we made good use of the Hotel pool.

Crowds were surprisingly good, we deliberately went just before the AP black outs ended and apart from TSM all queues were very managable, by careful use of FP we did not wait for any ride longer than 10 minutes or so. Compared to 2004 and 2006 when we went in late June to early July we found the crowd levels much lower in August.

TSM was the only ride that it was hard to avoid the queue...

I was just there Aug 6 & 7 this year and it was not hot at all! I think the hottest it got was maybe 75 and I was cold at night! I know the weather was weird this year so I don't know how helpful I am.
Honestly, it wasn't terribly crowded in my opinion. At the time, I thought it was pretty busy, but the weekend in October that I went was WAY more crowded.

We were at DL this year on Aug. 18-21. The weather was just amazing. It was warm enough during the day, and in the evenings it cooled down a bit that we had to wear our sweat tops (but we were still OK in shorts). I love going this time of year. The weather is almost guaranteed to be perfect - and when I say perfect, I mean it's warm enough to go on water rides, get as wet as one can possibly get, and dry in a comfortable amount of time without freezing to the bone.

See my post on different crowd patterns I just wrote. I compared the crowds from the first week in Aug to the crowds at the start of the Holiday Season. Both were crowded, but the crowds were spread out differently. I bet the time right before the Holiday Season but after Halloween was probably uncrowded. The lull between holidays. :)

THIS August was unseasonably cool -- like I've lived here all my life and never seen a summer so cool. Most Augusts in So Cal are quite hot. Expect upper 80's at least. If you can avoid the time around Veteran's Day weekend and Thanksgiving break, I'd definitely try for November.

The two times we've been in late August it was almost unbearably hot, but I don't remember the crowds being quite as large as June or July have been. Alot of people go back to school in August. This year was cooler for sure.
We have been in September and December and it was really nice in both of those months.
