How crazy is the week following Easter Sunday?

Of course if we could go another time we would, but just curious. Do the extra park hours for onsite guests really work?

We went last year the week after Easter, it was our first trip, so I really researched where and when we wanted to go. Typically, we would go to EMH at the park, stay until 11-ish - when the parks started to get crowded, then went back for an afternoon rest. At about 4 or so, we went to another park, usually the EMH that night. It worked really well for us, with the exception of Epcot. It was very crowded there on EMH day. All of the other parks, we never waited more than 10 mins for anything. We also followed the TGM guidelines, go straight to the ride you want the most, get a fastpass, then ride in standby and return later for another ride.

This is the week we visist WDW every year. The crowds can be very big, but really seem to taper off the second half of the week. Last year we signed up for Tour Guide Mike and were shocked that we barely had to wait at all while using his suggestions. Best $ we ever spent!

tour guide mike is a subscription service you can buy which has suggestions for how to deal with the parks. There is a link at the top of the page. There are also guide books that can help decide how to plan your days. How crowded it will be depends on when Easter is. IF it is early then there will still be other places having spring break after easter. If it is later, then the week after it will be quite a bit less crowded. I think that the parks are generally still pretty crowded until after the third week in April, which is when most pubilc schools in Mass, and Maine and CT have their spring breaks.
