How crazy is Aug?

We now go in August after our first few trips being in November.

Yes it is hot and humid in August...it will rain pretty much every afternoon, but not all day...but the crowds aren't bad at all.

Don't be afraid to try it. Like others have said, we also hit each park at rope drop when there are literally no lines. By 11:15 we are eating lunch, then heading back to our resort to enjoy the pool and rest (and sometimes to wait out the rain!) Later on we go to dinner, and then go back to the parks when it's dark out and much cooler.

It really can be a wonderful time to go, it just takes a little planning!

Three of our last four trips have been in August. This summer too.

Is it my FIRST choice for a time to go, no; but DH is a teacher so if we want a longer trip, that's our time and we've enjoyed it!

It's Florida, it's hot, it's humid, it rains. It has NEVER stopped us from having a great time. Make a plan, stay hydrated and you'll be fine. In August, we are commando from rope drop til about 1 or 2 pm, then break until 6 pm and stay til close. We cover it all and enjoy it. The only thing we skip is the 3:00 parade at MK. That time of day on asphalt in August isn't happening for us. I do remember 2009 or 10 having an exceptional heatwave for a few days with actual temps at or over 105. That was extreme, but it would have been at home too. And I'd rather roast in WDW than at home.:thumbsup2

It is really hot but totally doable! I love august, I love the hot weather and the pools and waterparks, but we don't get hot weather here really so it is a novelty.

Taking breaks in the afternoon and having TS meals in the cool made it far better. We love Disney in august. Also, the queues aren't really bad at all, many of the big rides had waits of 30-40 minutes with the exception of TSM and Expedition Everest.

We go every Aug and will be returning this coming Aug. It is very hot and humid. As for the rain, last year we only had a storm 1 afternoon and that was while we were eating lunch. We don't think the crowds are bad at all and have never had long waits. We usually go around the 10th for a week. We are ones that have been to Disney enough (27 year old son has been 30 times!!) that we do go back to the resort each day for a swim and then usually to Epcot for a nice dinner and then to whichever park we want. It will be hot so you just have to make sure to keep drinking so you don't dehydrate. Since most of the attractions are indoor you will be going from AC to AC which gives you a nice break from the heat.

We are going back this August arriving on the 8th. We did August on 2009 as well. The heat and humidity kept us down on the first day only and we adjusted some of our plans and ways of thinking and took full advantage of the EMH. August is the one month of the year we can go for a longer trip so we make the best of it.

How crazy are the parks in Aug, like mid Aug. As far as weather and as far as crowds. Is it totally a bad idea to go at that time?

I know the "summer" prices decrease drastically the first week of August for room rates/package prices.

We postponed our trip by 3 weeks to save $950 for the exact same package in mid-July.

Yeah the cheaper price is why we are going this time. We are planning a longer trip in jan of 2015 with my sister and her family, but we just cant wait that long!! lol

We went this past August 22-26 and had a blast. We did go at rope drop each morning then stayed until about 7 or 8 at night. Didn't bother with going back to the resort in the afternoon.

Yes it is hot and humid, but it is hot humid at home too. Also, you aren't in the constant sun. Going in and out of attractions helps cool you off.

Crowds were very manageable and didn't have any waits more than 20 minutes. Most were like 10 minutes.
