How comfy is the pull-out sofa at BWV?

Just wondering if anyone knows how comfy the pull-out sofa is in a studio at BWV? My sister is staying with us a few nites and she's the lucky one who gets the sofa. It is queen-sized, right?

It's smaller than a queen. People have given mixed reviews. My children are all under 7, and they don't mind it a bit. For myself, I would not want to sleep on it, but I have a bad back.

My teenage daughter and friend each just over 100lbs. did not like it. Luckily we had a two bedroom so we took the mattress from the other pull out and doubled it up ( They are very thin).
That seemed to make it better.

My grandmother slept on the pullout in the studio room last year (for an entire week) and said it was fine.
Mousekeeping brought us a couple of extra mattress pads to make it a little more plush.

Our first trip we took 2 couples with us. We gave up the master bedroom and took the pullout. It was the most uncomfortable bed I ever slept on. I'm sure others are fine but it was horrible. So basicallywe learned that we will only bring one other couple and will never give up the king.

I'm the OP for this. Since it sounds like the pull-out is pretty uncomfortable, will they have a problem if we bring one of the queen blow-up mattresses to use instead?

Funny thing is I have seen this thread before and the majority said the opposite of what's being said here--that the sleeper/sofa at BWV is very comfortable. I was one of those people, and I really do think it's fine. My daughter "The Princess and the Pea" who is really picky about such things, said the BWV sofa bed is the only one she ever found comfy. I have slept on it, and you don't feel a bar underneath you, or anything like that. It feels like a regular bed to me. But I will say we sleep on platform beds here, I never liked a mushy mattress, so maybe that's why my family has no problem with the BWV sofabeds.

I definitely would pick the pull out couch over an air mattress.

No they won't. Go ahead and bring it along if you like.

Best wishes -

P.S. I don't think the sofa bed is uncomfortable, either. It's really a matter of individual preference. Some will not like the sofa bed and some will. Same with the king and queen beds. You'll have to try it for yourself to know as there is no way to know who among us has a "sleep number" comparable to yours. :)

I just returned from being at the BWV last week. Our first night we opened the couch and were trying to decide if we were going to sleep there, or if we were going to bring the kids (who had fallen asleep on the king bed in the BR) onto the pull out. My wife sat on it for one second and said "this is for the kids." But, my complaint is not with the mattress - it is with the sorry excuses for pillows and a dirty blanket that we found in the closet. The pillows were paper thin and nowhere near accceptable. I called housekeeping and soon thereafter I had two new pillows and a clean blanket.

I have a different but related question.
I double sheet my beds at home to get that luxury feel of a blanket (or in my case a down comforter) sandwiched between sheets. I HATE the thought of touching blankets that someone else used....and I think I'm correct that they change the sheets and NOT the blanket or spread at DVC????

So, someone suggested taking a fitted sheet to put on the bed and using the replaced sheet as a 'double' top to sandwich the blanket. Can we ask housekeeping for a clean blanket at checkin???? Or would that be being NAUGHTY?

DH is a loud snorer, so I have lots of experience with the BWV sleeper sofas, in the living room area and in the studio portion ;) I think they are just fine.

Are all of the studios lock-outs or do they also have some that are dedicated with two queen beds like BCV? I'm not talking about the ones connected to make a two bedroom because I know all of those are lock-outs, but instead the true stand alone studios?

Only OKW and the Vero Beach Inn Rooms have a studio with two queen sized beds. All the other studios have a queen sized bed and a double sized sleeper sofa.

Only some of the dedicated two bedrooms have a second bedroom with two beds and no sleeper sofa. Except for OKW.

Some of the BWV studios are dedicated. These are also called Studio Plus rooms and have an upholstered deacon's bench that they call a "daybed". Not my idea of a daybed, though. You cannot request these. They are the luck of the draw. The bench is located where the connecting door would be for a lockoff.

I've done a week on the sofabed at BWV - no complaints!

I think ONE person on the sofabed usually does OK, because you can move around and get comfy. Alone I have been fine on them, even though I have a bad back. When I have shared with my daughter I have woken up with a sore back. Why is it taking so long for them to add the new sofabeds with the foamy stuff?

When I was at BWV in early December, our room had the new style sleeper sofa. I didn't open it (afraid I wouldn't get it back!).

I assume that the BWV sofa beds have NOT been repalaced yet?

When we stayed at OKW in Jan 04, the sofa bed had already been replaced. Let me tell you it was the most comfortable sofa bed I had ever slept on! One of those super foam things where you can't feel the bar underneath.

We put the girls on the sofa bed and finally got the king bed all to ourselves - yeah! I had to lie down with them and I almost fell asleep. I think it was almost if not more comfy than my $2k pillowtop mattress at home! :earseek: Of course, my mattress was almost 8 years old and has seen a lot of "action" :rolleyes1 - you know, 2 kids jumping on it constantly - lol!

The foam mattress was very firm without being hard and unyielding which is how I like it.

If the sofa beds at BWV haven't been replaced yet, anyone know when they are scheduled to do so?

I think it depends on the room. I usually always have friends come with us and they'll take the couch. Just once the pull out was pretty lumpy and uncomfortable. I called housekeeping and they sent up a few mattress pads. After that it was ok.

I can't wait for the couches to be replaced. I've heard the new ones are really very comfortable.

We had a new one in December. 1 bedroom, boardwalk view, room 5151 I think.
