How comfortable are the sleeping sofas?

Our BWV room last week had the old style bed, but I still didn't think it was bad at all. The "bar" wasn't as evident as I expected--certainly not what I remember from the one we had at home back in the '70s. :teeth:

I, too, have seen reports that BWV is getting the new ones. It's probably a gradual replacement to coincide with established maintenance schedules or on an as-needed basis. For the time being, some rooms have the old and some have the new.

Hello everyone. I'm getting ready to my first trip "home" this thanksgiving. My stepson, who is 15, is coming with us and we are staying in a 1 bd at SSR. I was wondering how comfortable those sleeper sofas really are. Do they use special matresses or pads? I mean, if a regular sleeper sofa is generally uncomfortable and is used every once in a while, I wonder how will the ones at DVC perform given they are probably used A LOT.
Do any of you recommend that we take a matress pad with us to use on top of it?
I really appreciate your help so that I can prepare in advance and not having "teenager's complaints" once we get there.

Don't know if it helps but the new ones @ OKW weren't bad at all.

My kids usually end up on the sleeper sofa and typically complain about it. We're usually at VWL. That being said, we just got back from OKW and they LOVED the sleeper sofa there!! It was very comfortable. It must be a new kind because the procedure for getting it out and in was different than any sleeper sofa I had ever used. It was actually a little tricky and required a good bit of leverage.

Now, when put back together and as just a plain sofa for sitting on, it was horrible. The OKW sofa was not comfortable at all. Very slippery and I didn't sink down into it at all. That made it so I always felt like I was falling off of it.

Depends on if you get a new style sofa bed or the old ones.

The new ones are SUPER comfy! We were lucky to have them at OKW in 1/04. We got the old sofa bed at BWV this past April and they were a typical sofa bed - not horrible to 2 little girls but not at all comfortable.

I think all units at SSR should have the new sofa beds and since you will be staying there, you will have no problem.

I think the older resorts are in the process of switching them out very s l o w l y - so, at those reosrts, you may get either a new one or an old one depending on your unit.

My two boys complained a lot about the pull out and not sleeping well at all. I did not know you could ask for foam as we would have because they really had a bad bed. While on the subject all of our pillows were horrible. We are really not picky pillow people either but by the 3rd day we were all complaining (neck hurt and couldn't sleep) and the price that is charged for these rooms you should get good pillows.

Do all of the units at OKW have the new ones? Any pictures of it opened up? Thanks.

We have found the sofa beds uncomfortable the last two times we were at OKW so now we just take an air mattress and put it on top of the sofa bed or make it up next to the bed.

The sleeper sofas at SSR are more comfortable than the beds. I slept very well and felt incredibly rested in the morning. The best bed I ever slept on.
