months and months to lose 5 pounds and only a week to gain it back. I've been so good doing the exercise challenges and eating well, then I take a week off for vacation, and bam, I'm up 5 pounds and I barely remember eating. Sometimes I just hate my body.
Try not to beat yourself up. When most of us go on vacation we tend to indulge a little, after all, it is vacation. I know I have done that a few times. The important thing is to get right back on track as soon as you get back. Look forward, the gain is behind you, it is a done deal, move forward in the right direction and you will see the scale go down once again.
Setz - I know EXACTLY how you feel. Reviewing my many diets, I've come to learn that I can only lose one pound a week no matter what I do. It's always going to be the long haul for me. And, yes, it comes on in the blink of an eye. Hang in there with the rest of us. I know it stinks. I know it's not fair. Just think of that one day when you get to wear something that really makes you feel wonderful. Then it will all be worth it.
I think we tend to eat a little extra on vacation(or alot extra) and tend not to drink enough water - so we retain excess wgt - but once back OP - those pesky vaca lbs tend to drop right off!
I too lose wgt at a snails pace! But I have noticed that at the wgt I am currently I am in a smaller size than I was when I was 15lbs lighter - NO KIDDING! I have been exercising daily(occassionally missing a day) and workning out with light weights and on the trreadmill and total gym and I truly believe I have lost fat lbs and gained muscle lbs - which look nicer but weigh more? make any sense? Anyways I have a way to go to goal but I no longer wish to be a certain wgt - I wish to be a certain size, and I have 3 more sizes to drop till goal. I guess what I am trying to say is look at all ways to see wgt loss - clothes, measurements and the scale.
I have to agree with Sue. I know it's discouraging to see the scales go up so rapidly but now that you're home and will get back into your normal routine I'm sure you will see them drop back off pretty fast. I can gain 5lbs. in a weekend if I overindulge too much so I understand how you feel but I have noticed that it only takes a couple of days of returning to normal patterns to make it go away. If you don't have a tape measurer you should get one, because as Sue said, with the exercise you could be gaining muscle and that will result in inches lost but not show up on the scale. Tape measurers are a great thing!
