How clean is your home right now?

Fairly clean , messy in the living room

Still OK but sliding down-hill. Other than cooking and dishes, I barely do a lick of housework during the workweek. Everything gets spiffed up every weekend and then slowly deteriorates until Saturday rolls around again.

We have a three-year-old living in our house. The living room looks like a Toys R Us exploded.

As clean as it gets. My wife declared yesterday and today house cleaning days. Just finished.

My grandma told me years and years ago that she vowed to never say to someone that came by unexpectedly - Don't mind the house, I wasn't expecting company.
I now try my very very very best to never say that too - even when my girls were young.

It's a train wreck. In my defense, it's a 1976 trailer, claustraphobic as all getout, and no space to put anything. Always fighting mice so what would be in drawers and kitchen cabinets are all piled up on the dining room table (which is barely smaller than that dining area) and kitchen counters along with an air fryer, toaster oven, and microwave. Severely lacking in useable storage and kitchen counterspace.

I'm never home to clean. Always a woman in my life bothering me to help her. Going to have a mess in the yard because tonight I have to skip my daily leaf cleaning to help her.

Funny how they all tell me to say no to the other ones, and also never offer to help me, but beg and get down right nasty if I don't immediately help them.

Sounds like my MIL. For a few years she even had a cleaning lady, and my MIL would clean house the day before the cleaning lady came because she didn't want the cleaning lady to see the house dirty!
My wife says her mom used to say that if there was a fire, she didn't want the firefighters to come in and find dirty dishes in the sink.
Then one day she didn't show up for work. My wife called the neighbor with a key to check on her. She had passed away in her sleep, the neighbor called 9-1-1, and the fire department came to confirm her passing. They were still there when my wife got there. Her mom had her work clothing all set out, lunch packed, but the only time there ever were firefighters in the house, the sink was full of dirty dishes. Funny how things happen.

This week is unusual with plans, so tomorrow will be my cleaning day. So needless to say it isn't as clean as I would like, but by all means it isn't horrific. I can't take messy. But it does need a good dust and mop.

I hire a gal that comes in once every four weeks to do a total clean, top to bottom. She is there right now and I will walk in tonight after work and it will smell great.

Editing to add that we did spend at least an hour "decluttering" and putting stuff away in preparation for her arrival.

I'm having friends over for dinner, just finished mopping floor. I'm an empty nester and do a good job of picking up and wiping down everyday. But the heavy lift like mopping and deep cleaning only happens about once a month or so.

Constant battle with pet hair - daily fight if not you drown in it - otherwise my house is clean - except for pesky cat who sheds the second your done with the vacuum - whole clumps of hair everywhere - I swear I’m shaving him bald ! teach him to mess up my floors !!
Major cleaning done every Saturday - dust / sweep / mop / bathroom / beds etc - I just vacuum and tidy up through out the week - of course there is the never ending laundry - it’s like rabbits turn your back on it and wholly cow it multiplied by ten - gotta keep an eye on it - it’s shady like that darn cat !!

DD vacuumed floors upstairs tonight because of that pesky cat - hair clumps everywhere - I go upstairs an hour later - hair clumps everywhere right in front of my bedroom door !! Oh he’s declaring war !! If he didn’t have claws I’d get the clippers out now teach him ! Good thing I him he’s as bad as a teenager !! Since he’s 8 I don’t think this is going to change !! He’s starting to teach the kitten to do the same the little devil
The dog needs no help I don’t understand why he’s not bald as the amount of fur that comes off him daily should be of concern and brought up with vet but I have as of yet to find bald spots - he’s got plenty of fur to spare to distribute throughout my whole house
Thank God I love my pets !! But yes it’s a constant battle in the house - on my person I gave up !!
I should buy stock in Shark vacuums though !!
