I know this may sound like a silly question, but how do y'all decide the value of pins when trading.

Is a LE worth 2 lanyard pins, are tokyo rack pins worth more than paris rack pins (=rarer) etc.

It is all so confusing  for those of us just starting. How do you know if a trade will be fair?

I trade to be as fair/close in edition size but sometimes it depends how badly I want a pin. I may be willing to give alittle more to get something that I want. Some folks won't. That's what makes it fun, you keep trying until you get want you want. Some folks decide by the orginal price. So when they trade they try to make it come out equal $ value.

This is the question that has haunted men through the ages.....well okay....at least since Disney Pin Trading kicked off!

It is much like Mario said, depends on how much you want a pin.

I use Pinpics to get a rough estimate of the wants vs available for trade.
I also use Ebay as a price gauge. Prices fluctuate so often tho. But some racks are more in demand than a LE!!!!

Both of those are only assistive devices. I also use the LE number.

As for Paris and Tokyo. I have traded mostly rack for rack and Le for Le but will sometimes offer a little more to those traders as I feel it is the only contact to get such pins.

As for the lanyard pins, hard to say. Seems at the moment, people are only willing to trade a lanyard pin for a lanyard pin. Although they are not LE persay, they a bit more difficult to find than a average rack at WDW.

I hope that helps.....and Katherine.......NO question is ever silly.....okay....well sometimes the ones I ask are....but lol

Don't feel bad, we all find it confusing. And it really just comes down to how much you like/desire the pin the other person has.
A lot of it has to do with the rarity or popularity of the pin, and where/how you are trading the pin(s).
