Remember when you could read your bill? Those were the days :lmao:
Our past several trip we have been on Free Dining and it was easy to tell if we were being charged for it or not I could put the code in on the WDW website. Our next trip has me a little more perplexed. I am trying to determine if we are better off with a 40% VISA code or a 4/3 (of course I am not sure this is even still being offered) which I booked on the phone and want to be sure there are no problems getting charged for things (like insurance) that despite repeated refusals always seem to get charged.

We arrive Feb 3rd and depart Feb 9th and are staying at POR. We also have the quick service dining plan. I didnt purchase any passes becuase we will get AP's once we get there with tickets we already have being applied to the purchase. How can I break down the prices?

I can tell you that the 4/3 deal is only a good deal if you stay for the full 7 nights... and then it works out to about a 43% discount.

I also wanted to tell you to remember that in order to get the quick service dining plan you will have to purchase AT LEAST a 1 day park ticket for each guest. You can upgrade that ticket at the parks for the AP once you get there. If you do the 4/3 deal, you have to purchase the minimum ticket (get the 7 day for the same price as the 4 day... not sure how it transfers over as a credit towards AP's... if it goes as a 4 or 7 day value).

Because you are only staying 6 nights, I say take the 40% code, buy a 1 day ticket for everyone, and add the QSDP. That will be your cheapest/best bet. ;)

OMG!! I am on the phone now and being informed of all this!! That is y I like to see an actual bill!!! I had no idea my reervation was changed from a VISA discount to an AP discount! which based on my calyculation is no dicsount at all!

the cm keeps saying it;s about the same and when I asked him for the 4th time point blank "How much is the AP discount" he said he did not know it can be 10 to 40% last I knew 10 was NOT 40!

thanks for the info!!! you have been very helpful

You're welcome! Make sure they have you down for the VISA discount... I don't believe an AP rate has been announced for 2010 yet... many people here are still looking. HOWEVER there have been some that have said they've got a AP PIN, and I believe it is for 40% as well.

You can always call until you get a nice CM and have them price out your trip under each scenario. They will give you the total price on each deal. Be sure you are having them "mirror" the reservation each time. Make sure you have paper & pen to keep up with everything they are telling you! :rotfl:

The AP PIN is for 40% for deluxe 35% for Mod and 30 for Values and for dates through June 12. It's I guess a better deal for the mod and values. The VIsa deal is better for the Moderates-a little cheaper through Feb 12. Also, with the room only discounts, you don't have to purchase tickets as with the 4/7 offer. We have a few 1 day passes (from free dining and the $500 free gift card offers) that we will use to upgrade to probably APs again. I also think the 4/7 and 5/7 rates are some type of Average rate due to weekends/weekdays having different rates at times.

I couldn't remember if the VISA deal was 40% for any level, and I wasn't sure what the AP PIN was for exactly-- just saw several ppl talking about the PIN discount.

I mentioned to the OP that the room only would be a better deal because you don't have to do the tics, but she was wanting to get the QSDP (hence the need for a 1 day ticket). I didn't think she already had AP's because she mentioned buying them once they were there... but maybe what she meant was she was going to renew her AP's.

First let me say (now that I am tryinng to calm down) that you have a BEAUTIFUL family and I LOVE the shirts. I have a disboutiquer friend who makes them for us and we are very lucky!

Next thing is to quote a "little einstein" I CANNOT BELIEVE IT! I was given so much contradictory information. I wasnt informed my 40% was taken awaywhen I called to cancel my tickets on the ressie because we were going with a season pass, we already have a few extra 1 day tix's so I figured we'd upgrade. During this call I was told that information AND that I cannot get a room only discount with the Visa Code and that I have to buy a 1 day ticket to get the dining plan. Also that I have an AP discount , but as you indicated, I do not. I had NO discount.

Is it true that I can apply multiple 1 day tickets to a single AP or this a non truth???

I am going to try to get the 40% with the dining and a 1 day ticket. It is just terrible when you have NO TRUST in the company you are doing busines with especially when it's so much $$$$. I really wanted to just cancel the trip. We are going in Setp/Oct anyway. Sadly enough it would not be the first time. Once before we had such booking issues for a weekend trip that we just scrapped the whole thing.

you can only use ONE 1 day pass per upgrade to an AP. Years ago you could combine multiple unused days, no more.

Thanks for your help also!!! I had a VISA 40% off moderate room rate for POR. Do you know if I can use multiple passes to upgrade to a signle AP example t adult 1 day tickets toward an AP we will not have more that 2 one day tickers for each AP so the total WILL not exceed the cost of an AP?

thanks

WOW u r SUPERFAST, I know to much little einsteins :)
you posted the response before i even asked u the question :)
darn these boards are good

Score

Disboards 3
Disney Reservations 0 :(

thanks again!

LOL, it looks like you got your question answered!

AP holders can add the dining package to a room-only deal, from what I have read here at the Dis. Maybe disneyfan55 can answer this for sure. I do believe you need to already have AP's when you book. I also believe you use to be able to buy AP's at the Disney stores... anyone know if this can still be done? :confused3

Thanks about the family. The shirts were a late night project for our last minute trip... as were a few other shirts & outfits they wore that week. 2010's trip may not be that coordinated! :rotfl:

I have read the same about adding the dining plan for AP holders. To be honest, we have only had the dining plan during free dining. We have the tables in wonderland card for other times since I like the 20% off discount it offers and we travelled with enough adults to recoup the fee for it. We had stayed in the values and the 20% off can be used at their food courts so it worked well for us.

Yes, AP holders can add get the dining plan added to a room reservation without having to purchase an additional ticket.

I believe that you must have the AP ahead of time, but not really sure if that is true.

We have booked rooms at the AP rate without having it at times. We just went and got it on the way to checkin. I have never had a problem doing this.

I do not have an AP YET ;) Planning on doing that when we arrive
I was told I currently have an AP discount  per the CM I spoke with ~ he did see it was originally a Disney Visa Discount but that ws eliminated when I said to X cell the tix's ( I wasnt told how this would effect my ressie at the time)
I was informed I could not get a room only ressie with the Disney Visa discount - but NO WHERE do I read it needs to be a pkg with at least a 1 day tix
also that without a 1 day tix i cannot add the dining plan

I'm so dizzy my head is spinning (insert music here ;) )

but riddle me this disfriends

based on what I am reading here and believe WAY more than the CM's can I
(drum roll please)

get the Disney Visa room only and basic meal plan? it appears they already have me as a AP holder since that is teh "dscount" NOT that they have listed???

this ride is about to stop :)

thanks SO MUCH!!!
for any thoughts, suggestions, recommendations :goodvibes:

I recommend you call back... get a new CM and tell them you want the room only Disney VISA offer of 40% that is valid through Feb. 12. Let them know you plan to buy AP's upon arrival, and that you would like to add the QSDP to your ressie without having to buy a the 1 day ticket.

Maybe eventually you will get someone that can do it right for you. If nothing else, get the room ressie correct with the 40% VISA discount, and then if this CM can't get your dining on there, try tomorrow and see if you have more luck! :rotfl:

Is there a Disney VISA AP 40% off package? There are so many packages, who can keep track? ;)
To book a package with any dining plan, but without tickets, they would be needing an AP ticketless package. (Exceptions being DVC-ers or someone booking on a military salute package.)
I did not think the AP ticketless packages offered 40% off. :confused3 Can't say from personal experience. Just going by what I have read in other's posts. And honestly can't say I have paid THAT much attention to them.
But I am sure someone will let me know!

I don't know that there is a VISA AP ticketless 40% deal per say... I was trying to tell the OP to call Disney, get the VISA deal, and then tell them they were going to be AP people & see if they could add the QSDP. I never thought of the AP deals as "ticketless packages" so much as they were able to add a dining plan without buying tickets because they are AP holders (and are the only people who have that option... regular joes like myself can't book a room & get dining, WITHOUT buying a ticket).

I will agree, it is all VERY confusing! :rotfl:

Marcie can you please explain to me what is the Visa discount? I do have a Disney visa card but my family usually drive to Orlando and stay offsite. But since my 40th birthday is next may I really wanted to stay at the Disney resort in possibly the AKL or maybe the Contemporary. Is there really a cheap way to do this. I really don't want to spend 4 or 5,000 just to stay onsite for 5 or 6 days.

The Disney VISA deal is a room only discount of 40%, good early Jan. through Feb. 12.

If you want to go during that time, you could definitely do on-site at one of those resorts for pretty cheap. I just ran a hypothetical trip for 2 adults, 2 kids (1 jr age 10, 1 child age 6) at AKL from Jan. 21-27 on the 4/3 deal (only staying 6 nights) and got it for 2323.09 in a savannah view room. This includes 7 day base tickets, but no dining plan. The 4/3 deal is a better offer than the VISA 40% off if you stay the full 7 nights (it works out to be about 43% off).
