Right now we are waitlisted for early seating. If we get it will we have to choose between the Sunset in Key West and dinner in the dining room? I'm assuming we can do both if we end up with late seating.

We can certianly just grab a bite to eat at a Topsiders or even at a local place in Key West, I just wasn't sure how the timing for that works out.

Thanks!

Kathy

Q - How can you see the sunset in Key West?

A - Look to the west...

Ok maybe I am ignorant but what is the big deal with the sunset?

Sunsets in Key West have always been very highly rated, and not to take away anything from Key West, but I saw the most spectatular sunset the other day in Orlando!!!! I was driving East on I-4 and when I looked in my rear view mirror it took my breath away. Every shade and color you could imagine!!!!

Just goes to prove, a beautiful sunset can be had anywere!!! Enjoy your meal at the time you want to eat.

They say that the sunsets in Key West are legendary. I just don't know what makes them so beautiful. Probably the setting and the colors as it sets across the ocean. ...but why is it nicer than a sunset in __________. :confussed:

Sunsets in Key West are not just viewed but celebrated. There are jugglers, tight rope walkers, trained cats and craft vendors on Mallory Square. As the sun sinks into the sea everyone breaks out into applause.
We watched it from the Sq. and then went back on board and had a nice ribeye steak dinner at Topsiders.
Take your time and enjoy the experience. You may not be this way again. That is is our motto.

I read somewhere on one of the cruise boards that I go to, that cruise ships had to leave port at a certain time in Key West..as to not block the view of the Sunset. *shrugs*

When we went there on Royal Caribbean we left in the afternoon sometime. I cant remember the exact time though.

Hi this is Shirley - as it is well known, I was born and raised in Key West a long time ago or so it seems - none of the conchs ever took interest in the sunrises or the sunsets until about 15 years ago, my uncle, whom has seen many sunsets in KW decided to take my family and I down to Mallory Square (I can remember when MS was nothing but a garbage collector and terrible looking) - as the sun started setting I was stunned to think that I grew up with that huge ball of fire in the sky and never realized just how stunning and beautiful it was - many years ago during the "flower child days" and Key West became their home for awhile, they started the traditions of praising the sunsets - they would preform on the concrete, sell their wares etc - as time moved on it became a bigger tradition - as I said - KW is only 2X4, but it can be seen from the island from almost anywhere - and if you thing that is something - the sunrises are just as stunning - When I was a little girl, I remember waking up on the Rest Beach which is left of the White street pier, with my feet in the water and the most beautiful sunrises - all of the conchs on Saturday night would gather at this beach - take picnics or we would catch our own out of the ocean such as conchs, lobsters, crabs etc - cook them right there and then we would fix our "beds" close enough to the water's edge where our feet laid in the water all night - Life is Key West was awesome - another Tidbit about Key West.
Don't miss it if you can help it.
Always
Shirley
