"How can you keep going back there?Haven't you seen it ALL 3x's over?" your response?

It's so weird that people think going to WDW multiple times is strange...
These are the same people who vacation at the same lake or park every single year for a week.
Or they spend every weekend going up and down the same body of water in their boat.
Or the find a way to go broke time and time again at a casino.
Their free time choices aren't put to a tenth of the scrutiny that my Disney vacations are.

I just smile when people used to ask me that. It is my happy place. You should have heard the comments when I said I was moving to FL. But that didn't stop me.

I like to think if everyone knew how great Disney was it would be super crowded. It's ok if everyone doesn't understand Disney. :)

My neighbor and her family (kids ages 3,5 and 9) just came back from a 2 week vacation to Florida to visit relatives. While there, they spent two days at MK. When she came home and was telling me about her trip she told me she HATED every second of MK. She said it was a glorified Six Flags (Great Adventure, a thrill park in NJ). SERIOUSLY????? She said that she wasted $811.00 on park tix. My initial thought when she said two days was, "Wow, only 2 days? They aren't going to see half of what's available", but she couldn't wait to get outta there! To each her own I guess!

I don't even tell people where I'm going anymore.

When I used to tell them and would get asked why am I going again, I usually said something like because I want to and I can.

When I started going solo, I wasn't even asked questions about why. I was just told that I was weird.

I'm glad those people don't go to Disney. That means there are less people in line in front of me!

Well.......

We have NOT seen it all. With all of MY trips I have not seen ALL of WDW. I have only been to DTD ONCE and that was on XMAS night back in the mid 80s. The night that froze out all of the citrus in Central Florida.

We only started going to DHS a few trips back and we still have much to see there.

The kids have still have a few countries to see at EPCOT. I still have not been in Canada.

AK still has a few things we have not seen as does MK. The only thing at MK the kids have not see is the HoP. Which I have always thought as ho hum anyway.

I would guess about half of the attractions at WDW we have NOT been on or only have ridden once.

We have NEVER been to the water parks. Well, I went to River Country as a kid but we will not count that since it is a hulk at this point. :)

People just do not understand how BIG WDW is and how much there is to do. They think it is one park.

Dan

It is my happy place.

This is what I say!

As previous posters have said, a lot of people vacation at the same place all the time and they never get "Don't you want to try new stuff/see something new?" I can pretty much guarantee I see and do more new things going to WDW than they do going to the casino or the beach!

I don't understand the questions.:confused3....

That is my response. Most of the time I show a pictures of our vacation. One great picture in front of the castle, day or night, and I reel them in. One good trip on-site and they don't ask the puzzling question any more.

:thumbsup2

I tell people "If my family ever gets tired or bored with WDW, then we will stop going, but until then we will go as often as we can."

As others have said, there are many other things we do multiple times that don't have as much to do as Disney does, but people don't seem to have a problem with these destinations. This includes the zoo, various museums, traveling to Chicago (Miracle Mile), lakeside cabin, etc.

People have quit asking me why. I think they are sick of hearing about our great trips.

My daughter was like this and even tried to put her foot down when she got older and said she didn't want to go each year anymore.....I thought I raised her better :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Until I was planning the trip without her! She quickly changed her mind and has been back each year since.....no complaints either :thumbsup2

You are absolutely right! Different strokes for different folks. I think My next response may be : BECAUSE I LIKE MY DUST PIXIE-FIED OKAY!!!

"I feel like it."
"I want to."

However, people who rudely grill me are not people with whom I continue to speak. I don't feel the need to come up with replies. Why bother?

I suspect it's envy. For some, it's envy of your having a place to go where you have a good time in general. For others, it's envy of going to WDW specifically, 'cause not everyone can afford it. Or at least, not everyone sees the necessary costs and/or sacrifices as being worth the trip.

Soooooo, THAT'S WHY we're going for the first time next month!? Those PICTURES you showed me @ Thanksgiving! We've been SABATOGED... and I LOVE IT!!! :lmao:

My response is that, for a family of 5 with young kids, there are few places we can go and get the same quality vacation at that price. Travel from NY to Orlando is easy and usually affordable. As much as we complain about the price increase at Disney, the cost of Atlantis, Beaches Turks and Caicos, or Club Med is almost twice the cost of Disney. Even Disney haters usually understand that!
I also explain that we try to do different things each trip - a new resort, new restaurants, new activities - and as our kids get older and taller there are new opportunities available.

My answer is usually "how much new has been built at your cottage lately?".

DVC is my cottage.

I usually respond that no one questions when families go back year after year to the same beach, lake, resort, area etc. People enjoy familiarity but also trying new things, so to each their own. We also go to other cities and try new things with our boys, so it's not like they NEVER experience anything but Disney.

For some reason Disney is lost on some people, and that's ok. sitting on a beach ALL day sounds boring and is lost on me too. But I would also never presume to ask someone why they would want to do that in a rude manner.

I tend to ask the people what they like to do on vacation.

"I like to golf."
Walt Disney World has a handful of different courses, and they've held PGA tour events there.

"I like to fish."
You can charter a fishing excursion.

"I like to zip around on my boat."
There are several places within WDW you can rent various watercraft.

"I like to go camping."
You can do that at Fort Wilderness. And you can toast s'mores at a campfire, sing songs with visits from Chip and Dale and watch a Disney movie by the stars.

I figure the only vacations I can't argue my point against are specific city (or region) destination vacations that people have never visited before. Or casinos, since you can't gamble at Disney. The Disney argument makes the most sense when you compare it to a "repeat visit destination" vacation.

argghhhhhhhhhh - i just got it yesterday at a reunion of summer camp girlfriends...

as it happens, one of them is going to WDW this summer for the first time....for only 4 days

so they asked me, "how long are you going for?"

"14 days"

you should have seen the look of horror on all their faces....

of course, none of them have been to WDW....

one had been to hong kong disney - and said, "oh I was at Disneyworld in Hong Kong and i saw EVERYTHING in one day"

i didn't bother correcting her or answering with the obvious answer..

then another chimed in, "oh I was at eurodisney many years ago and saw EVERYTHING there in one day"

again, no response from me.

they asked again - "how many days?"

"14"

"you going to miami?"

"no, just disney world"

you should have seen their faces - a picture's worth a thousand words..

whatever....i didn't bother responding beyond that.....but inside i was laughing....

I always tell them that I do something new everytime. And I usually do....like on my last trip, I took the Wild Africa Trek tour - loved it!
