How can two separate parties request connecting rooms?

We are planning a trip with DH's siblings. One family has already made their reservation. How can we make our own reservation and request adjoining rooms with them? Would they have to call? Anyone done this after the fact? :confused3

As has been said before, a request is just a request and it has been known not to happen sometimes.

As to connecting rooms with separate ressies, I'm not sure that can be done.
I think you will have to make a new ressie for the whole party and cancel your existing ressie.

We've done it before. When you make your ressie, have them note the request to connect rooms with your family's name. Have your family call and put the request on theirs to connect with your name. When you check in, point it out and remind the CM so they can try to hook you up. Of course, like the previous poster said, a request is a request and not a guarantee, but they try.
We've tried this twice. One time no problem at all. The second time, the other part of our party stayed in a different room one night and then moved to the connecting room the next day for the rest of our trip.
Good luck and enjoy your family time! :grouphug:

In situations like this, we always chose one person to be the "resort" person. They made the ressies (and requests) and paid the deposits. The "other" party just gave the deposit money to the "resort" person. Once you check in, each room is counted as its own entity, therefore, each party can pay the bill to their own room. Charging priviledges work the same way. Each room has its own account, so the credit card used for each room can be different. My brother and I did this with our families a few years ago.

Now, as the other person said, requests are just that. If both parties arrive at the same time, I am sure a request can be made upon arrival and you could get connecting rooms just as easily (if available) as if you gave request upon reservation. I would think arriving at the same time would be the important factor.

For our family trip to OKW in Sept. we just asked to be close to DH's family. They also looked up theirs to make sure they also had it noted on their ressie.

We've done this before also...
We simply made the request with CRO, gave them our family's name and reservation number and asked that we be given connecting rooms.

I also followed up a couple of days prior to arrival with a fax, again noting both party's names and reservation numbers, and requesting the adjoyning rooms.

we got it no problem.

Did a similar request this past fall with 3 separate families who all wanted to be in the same building (not connecting though). We were all within 3 doors of eachother.

I do agree that it is probably less confusing if one party handles the requests. Although it likely wouldn't hurt to have it noted on all the ressies.

It is best to make the ressies at the same time. This will insure whatyou want! :flower:

We had no problem doing it several years ago. We were traveling with another family, but they wanted to do all their reservations themselves. So, what we did was to have each other's reservation number noted on the other one's reservation....and then added the request for connecting rooms. We stayed at POR and got exactly what we needed. We booked the rooms ourselves, so just called CRO and each family made the notations.

Just did it... the very nice CRO person made a note of the other family's name and confirmation number in our file... we'll see how it goes. :goodvibes
