Just had to chime in...lol...check under my avatar!

My DH learned to spell his/our last name by way of this song when he was a child! (11 letters)

Anyway....regarding topic at hand.....I thought this info was out there...that this could happen....sorry its so upsetting to you and its ruining your plans.

... This is the best thread I've read in a long time!! ...

Agreed!! If someone will guarantee me that the worst problems I'll have are DDP changes, hotel price increases, and non-smoking rooms (so that I'll have to enjoy that cigar outside in a DSA), I'll take that deal right now!

This is funny, I sont see the issue. Rates go up.
I have a trip set up for next year at akl , and got a letter about the price hike, and even for a deluse resort, it didnt bother me to pay it. It wasnt that much. And as for other parks being better for service or fun, please, list them, I would love to see whats better then disney world, lol.

Very interesting thread. I think most threads like this would be avoided if Disney would just standardize their communication. If ALL CM's at CRO had to tell ALL guests booking before the next year's rates were out that their room was reserved but the rates WOULD BE ADJUSTED as soon as the new rates came out, there would be no surprises. I can't imagine, with a company the size of Disney, that they couldn't get on the ball with this stuff so we don't get five different answers when we call 5 different cast members. I'm sure it's the principle of the thing, and not necessarily the increased rates, that made the OP so upset. Of course, Disney isn't the only one who does this. How about the airlines who tacked on the fuel surcharges last year to customers who had already booked and paid for their tickets, but hadn't flown yet? That was fun.

That's easy

Vacations are nice, but what would I do instead? Well, with the amount of $ I am spending on this I could..

Recarpet my entire house.
Extensive landscaping.
AND get laser eye surgery for my girlfriend.

In those terms, 12 days at disney really doesn't stack up at all. If they aren't going to be BY FAR the best experience there are a ton of other things I could do with the $.

Oh, and to add to the shoddy service that we have been recieving. A CM outright lied to my aunt when making an alternative to japan. She asked if there was room in france for 25 of us, the CM who was tired of being on the call said there was. Suspicious my aunt called back and found the reservation was only for 16. Now theres customer service for you.

Just an FYI, "Gay Days" is NOT a Disney sponsered event. It's is a lot like Mousefest or Jersey Week. People with that sexual preference go down to Orlando during a certain tme frame every year and chose to also visit WDW. So Disney doesn't have a double standard in that regard.

Why would it be necessary to tell someone something that is printed on their confirmation.

The reason it its so hard to get everyone on the same page is because of the size of Disney. It is very hard to get 60,000 employees to agree on anything. Many of the people answering the phone at Disney are not even in Florida and they know what is on their screen. If you ask them a question there answers are limited to what is in the database and there could be thousands of different questions people could ask. The only way to standardize the communication is to eleminate humans and replace them with computers.

Your confirmation comes within 5-10 days, that is plenty of time to cancel after you read the info, printed in large type on the back of the confirmation.

If you are so outraged, why don't you just "show 'em" and take your group to Universal? Not one of us is forced to hand our hard earned money over to Disney. Complaining to vent is one thing.....you started angry about an industry standard practice, when this was pointed out you ran your list of complaints. Why are you even going at all??? I'm not trying to be ugly, you just sound really unhappy with what you are getting for the money....Wouldn't the logical choice be to cancel and vacation elsewhere and be happy about your decision????

Disney offers a unique experience that is not just limited to a hotel room and theme parks. Disney World is a thoroughly themed vacation, from rooms to entertainment to meals. I think all of us would enjoy it more if we stopped looking for the flaws and stopped worrying about what's going on "behind the curtain". You could go to Universal or Six Flags or whereever, but you would NEVER find the Disney magic and Pixie Dust !

1. Because they already got my money and I am going to get something out of it

2. Because my entire family if 25 is going and it has been planned a very long time

And, I will "show them" by never returning again.

Now, they are blatantly gouging prices for service that is not nearly as good as it used to be. The people running it are like vultures feeding of Walt's corpse for a few bucks because a lot of what made the place special is now gone.

Disney is raising their prices to keep up with the rising price of oil that it takes to fuel your transportation and the shipping costs of food and just about everything else. This is called a business, they aren't going to go in the red to please us, and if they did then you wouldn't have ANYTHING to complain about since it would be closed down.

As far as I am concerned I hope everyone who does not like anything about Disney will stay home or go elsewhere, makes more room for the rest of us. LOL

This is a no brainer thread, rates for the next year are never guaranteed until they come out and are properly deposited, and even then if there is an increase in taxes of other government implemented fees those will be added that is the way it works.

If your vacation isn't until 2008, you can get your money back!

If you share you customer service, food quality, and value for your money concerns on top of Disney's audacity to charge you 2008 rates for your 2008 trip, they'd probably be relieved to cancel.

I hope you do "show them" and go elsewhere. That way you will have a chance at being happy about your vacation and all the rest of us will have one less Grumpy to deal with. I for one would take thousands of Sneezy's, Sleepy's and Dopey's to just one Grumpy!

Well said! Disney is actually a corporation, with shareholders, that only make money when there are profits!

Wow. What a funny thread. I think you guys scared the poor OP away....and I think she was just posting to vent. Don't we all do that here on the Dis?? Vent?

Anyways, I do have a question. I booked a land/sea package for Nov 2008. I booked it in May 2007 through a cruise website, non-disney. Do you think I will get a letter? Not that I mind it, I just am wondering since it's a package deal, if I will get charged...

and on a side note: I think some of you need to think seriously about taking some chill pills. Either that or lay off the caffiene. You are far too passionate about pointless and mindless matters....

:)

I'd check with who you booked it with. Travel agents often have a policy to guarantee the prices when booked and paid in order to get people to book ahead. That way they get to use your money interest free between the time you book and pay and when the trip actually is.

I hope I can do the Land and Sea trip someday, it looks really great! I saw a special on it on the Travel Channel, with Samantha Brown. I hope you have a great time!

4) If you have people coming in at different times they will take away your meals.

Please clarify this one. Do you mean they will remove your dining package if everyone does not check in at the same time? Or is this for party members checking in on different days?

I have a reservation over Labor Day weekend where my friend arrives in the middle of the day but I will not be able to check in until after 1 AM. Can she do any preliminary checking in?
