How can they be booked solid?

I just called again to check on the monorail hotels the 1st week of December...nada, nothing, packed like sardines....isn't that supposed to be slow-time at WDW? Needless to say, no discounts for Katie....CM suggested I call AAA and have them make my room only a package...said it'd knock 30% off the DDP, is this true? Doesn't sound right to me.

Congrats to all who are saving $$.....

When you book a magic your way package plus dining, they say you save 30% off dining (if you were paying for each meal with cash). That is probably what the CM meant.

If you play around with your dates on the disney website, you might be able to find availability. For example, ASMo is sold out when you plug in 12/3-12/7. But it shows availability if you plug in 11/30-12/7.

I played around with dates for my upcoming trip
From Sunday-Wednesday I could find what I wanted
But from Sunday-thurs I could not!!
Lots of folks are staying Thurs-sat

Make sure you check again around 55 days prior to your trip, and keep checking every day. People who have booked a package have to pay 45 days out, so a lot of cancellations will pop up then. good luck!

Codes just came out. Folks will start switching, cancelling and upgrading. Some might actually downgrade and extend a vacation for example...

I have had great luck booking via AAA, even if the price is room only. For example, one night at the Poly that week starts at $383. Booked through AAA, the same room starts at $340.

Booked solid for me too. I'm going Oct 19-25, and GF, Poly and Contemp are totally booked for AP rates and fall GP codes too. Luckily I booked with AAA a while back, so for now, that's all I get! We want to stay at a monorail resort for that week since I'm solo with the 2 boys. Other value resorts were available that week.

Just remember, just because Disney does a great job of booking their hotels, it doesn't mean that the place is going to be mobbed with tourists. Historically, it's a lower crowd period and by lowering the room rates.....Value Season, they are able to keep as many tourist dollars in the Mouse's pocket as possible.

I arrive starting the 12th, and I could have had GF, but not CR or Poly. We opted not to switch as it was still a price increase over our AAA rate at the CR. If I were willing to non monorail, I could have had some great deals, at AKL in particular. I will keep checking just in case, but I think we'll probably just be happy with our plan.

Well I have been trying for Dec 6th for several weeks and Disney says they have not 1 room at ANY property, but if I go on Travelocity or Expedia tbey have plenty of rooms. I really don't want to book through anyone but Disney, so I called to check again and as soon as I mentioned that Travelocity and Expedia had rooms all of the sudden they had what I wanted. Anyway I had to pay rack rate, but at least I have a room. Now I am just freaking out about how packed Disney is going to be if they are already all sold out. Good Luck, keep trying!!!!

It's funny, I just posted this morning, and I checked again and was given two more options, so I guess things do open up. One doesn't save me over AAA, and one is very tempting, but it's not monorail, so back to decisions, decisions.

That's what I think too - and I'm going in October.

After I couldn't get any of the codes to work for the Poly for our dates I went onto the Disney site to check availabilty. When I enter our dates Check In: Sat. Oct 18 / Check Out: Fri. Oct 24 I get a message that there is no availability. However, when I change the Check Out to Thu. Oct 23 then the resort is available. So, alot of people must be checking in on that Thursday.

Do you mean they had no rooms at all? Or just no rooms that qualified for the discount?

No rooms that qualify for the discounts. The resorts have a small amount of rooms that are set aside for a special discount, and once they are taken, then nothing is available unless somebody cancels or switches reservations, which does happen alot.

In my case, the resort is sold out completely. So, there are no rooms at all. That probably varies.

I had a long discussion with a cm yesterday about this. I am unable to find a different resort available for our time period at all ( Dec 10-13) but if I make checkout anytime for after 7 days or more almost all the resorts open. Evidently after she spoke to guest services the rooms I find there are set aside for certain package sizes only, I thought it was a load of bull and it makes me mad. If I were to book the longer vacation and then try to subtract days she said I would lose my room as it is sold as a package of dates!
