"How Can The Second Trip Be As Good as the First??" (We're baaaack-- 9/1!)

** PS-- I keep resizing and rotating my pictures in Photobucket and for some reason, those changes are not taking hold here...? They show up correctly on Photobucket, though, so I'm not sure what's going on. :confused3
Since we are officially under thirty days (exactly four weeks from tomorrow!!), I thought I'd share our daily plans, plus the outfits I'm planning on wearing! I think I mentioned that our vacations are pretty much the only time I get good pictures of Zach and I, so I like to look good! I think about what I'm going to wear pretty far in advance and finalize the list about a month before our trip.
Thankfully, our first day will not begin as early as it would have to if my dad didn't live in the Bronx. We live in the suburbs and to hire a car service to take us into the city would be expensive and eat up a lot of time. Instead, Zach and I will go to my dad's after work Tuesday night night and stay over. We'll eat yummy food and only have to leave between 5:50-6:00 a.m. for our 8:00 a.m. flight out of LaGuardia. It won't be great getting up at 5 or so, but much better than 4:00 a.m.! Plus-- it's Disney! Who can sleep much before Disney anyway?!
I forgot to take a picture of my traveling outfit, but I'll be wearing this tunic (in this color) with black capri leggings on the airplane:
V306628TOP_C24.jpg

I think it looks really cute on, and more importantly, comfortable! I'm always freezing on airplanes (so shorts are out), and can't stand wearing jeans while traveling, so leggings it is! I'll either wear my black Reef flip flops or Croc Malindi ballet flats.
I love airports, but most stores will be closed at the early hour. I like to buy my magazines/other flight entertainment in advance, so we'll skip the book stores, but we may stop at Au Bon Pain for a pastry (me) and coffee (Zach) after we go through security.(I may or may not have researched the food options available in terminal!)
We'll land in Orlando at 12:00 p.m., after a brif stop in Ohio (?? I'm not a geography wizard, but even I recognize that this makes no sense when flying from New York). I know I'll be flipping out at this point-- we'll be almost there! Zach will just be happy to ride the MCO monorail!
Zachsfavorite--monorail.jpg

Hopefully, we'll be able to find ME easily (we had some trouble last trip)! In 2009, there was a pretty sizable line at the counter, but since we already had our tickets, a man at a podium directed us straight to the POR/YC/BC bus line. Is that a normal thing? I hope it happens again! We only waited 10 minutes for the bus.
I love the ME video! I can't imagine starting our vacation any other way!
WelcometoDisneyvideo-1.jpg

WaitingtoleaveMCO.jpg

I'm sure I'll spend the ride searching for alligators on the side of the road-- I love to do that in FL! Never spotted one-- hope I do some day! I also hope we're the first stop so we can get checked in quickly. Last time, we were lucky and our room was ready at 1 p.m. If it's not-- no worried. I'll have my park bag and a change of clothes in my carry-on. (Which I can leave with bells services if our room isn't ready)
I'm planning on carrying my VB hipster and this dress for the afternoon/dinner.
ptr2011002.jpg

ptr2011001.jpg

I think it's nice and bright for our first night of vacation! Bright colors also photograph well! ;)
Depending on what time we get in/settled, we'll either go to DTD or head straight to Epcot. Since our ADR isn't until 7:05, I'm thinking we'll go to DTD. If we get there by 3:00, I'd like to have lunch at WPE, my favorite CS!
Either way, I think we'd need to leave DTD by 5:30. It probably makes the most sense to take a bus to YC/BC and walk, especially since we're eating in the WS, but Zach loves riding the monorail! We'll most likely take the bus to the Poly, walk to the TTC, and take the monorail from there. Also, I just love the front gates of Epcot! Nothing like seeing SE looming in front of you.
We'll probably head straight to the WS, but if we can build in a bit of time, I'd like to get in a ride on SE or MS. I know the line for Test Track will definitely be too long!
I'm so excited for this dinner! I think it's perfectly casual, which is good since we'll probably be exhausted from our travels. The Sunday roast and sticky toffee pudding look really yummy-- I hope they don't disappoint! Epcot will either be closed or close to it by the time we get out of time, so we'll most likely head straight for the buses. If we have a chance though, I'd like to slip into the line for Test Track before they cut it off for the night. It's one of our favorites, and we've never ridden it at night-- which I've heard is really fun!
Hopefully, the wait for the buses won't be too long and we'll be “home” at POR soon. I know we'll sleepily but excitedly climb into bed-- our vacation will be just beginning!

First day sounds great! I really like your outfits. I love tunics, they're so comfy.

You can't fly direct from NY? :confused3

I'm planning to use ME for our 2012 trip. We rented a car last year and I haven't used ME since 2009. I know I'm gonna be excited to board that bus and watch the cute video. :goodvibes

That stinks that you have to go through Ohio. Are you changing planes or just stopping?
Cute outfits!!! I totally agree with being in comfy clothes on the plane. Your dress for dinner is great!

Thanks! I've never really worn Victoria's Secret clothing, but I got both that tunic and the dress there and really love them!
We can/have flown direct from NY, but we had some Airtran credits that we had to burn-- they were due to expire and not running any direct flights to MCO at the time we wanted, unfortunately.

Fortunately, we are just stopping-- no changing planes/seats. Thanks-- I love that dress, too!

I just got into wearing clothes from VS. I've bought a couple things recently that I really like from VS. So far so good! :thumbsup2

I don't know how I missed your last 2 updates! I love all of your VB things! :thumbsup2 I really want to get one of their cosmetic bags, they're so cute!

I love the outfit you are going to wear on the plane! All I care about is being comfortable on the plane, so I usually end up wearing sweatpants, which is not very smart, considering it's usually pretty hot when we get to Florida!

Ugh, I hate when you have a flight that takes you somewhere that is out of the way! I was looking at random Jet Blue flights out of Orlando the other day, and some of them leave from Orlando, go to Puerto Rico, and then fly back to CT! How does that make sense? :rotfl:

Your first day sounds great! Your trip is so close now! :dance3:

Hi I just started reading your ptr and it looks like you are going to have a great time. I had to laugh at all the references to Lake Compounce, since I live about 25 minutes away from there. Sometimes its funny to remember that the people on the internet are closer than you realize.

I have been considering getting a VB Hipster, and I think you just tipped the scales. Have a great time on your trip, I too am artistically impaired, but am planning on going to the Animation Academy since I know my niece will love it!

I just wish the stores sold the clothes so I could try the stuff on, you know? I like online shopping for most things-- except clothes!

I can't believe how close your trip is getting! Love the tunic and the dress! :thumbsup2
Thanks! I know-- we're basically at 3 and a half weeks. CRAZY!

I love the cosmetic bags!! They're cute and lined well-- plus, I can find lots of uses for them that go beyond just make up.
I made the mistake of wearing a terry sweatpant/hoodie combo our last trip and severely regretted it once we got to FL! I think this year's plan is better for me!

Welcome! Yes, it really is a small world-- so many Dis'ers live super close to me!
The hipster is such a great park bag-- I don't know how it would work for a mom who has kids still in diapers, etc. (Probably need another bag), but for DBF and I, it's perfect!

I hope everyone is having a good weekend! Zach and I are making a little trip to this mall in CT that's about an hour, hour twenty away from us. They have a Vera Bradley store that I want to check out-- plus, I have a coupon! We've also gotten in a rut of doing the same thing every weekend, so I think a drive and a change will be nice!

Day 2: I never can sleep in at a hotel-- no matter where I'm staying. This trait comes in handy at Disney! We plan to make rope drop everyday, and our first full day is AM EMH at the Magic Kingdom! The MK has to be our first full-day park, so this works out perfectly. I plan to leave our room around 7ish to catch the bus and be there in time for the opening show-- anyone know if they do the full opening when it's EMH? It always brings a tear to my eye-- I have to see it at least once a trip!
GoodMorningGoodMorning.jpg

I'll be dressed in a Disney shirt this day, a rarity for me. I don't wear Disney shirts IRL, so to spend money on clothes I'd only wear on one vacation seemed a little silly. However, I scored this top for only $8 (with shipping) on Ebay!
ptr2011005.jpg

It's very popular on the DIS—I've definitely seen it on more than one PTR/TR! I like that it's a character shirt, but has a cute shape. Ariel is not my favorite Disney princess, but The Little Mermaid is a great movie!
Doubtlessly, our first ride will be Space Mountain! This was closed for refurb on our las trip, so Zach has never ridden it and I haven't been on it years. I'm excited to check out the changes/new queue. We'll definitely head to Buzz next-- it's a favorite and we'll obviously be in the area!
ZachissadforZurg.jpg

Side note-- this picture is meant to be funny, haha. He knows his crossbody map case looks very feminine slung over one shoulder and wanted me to tell everyone that he is going for the “pretending to be Zurg's sad wife” thing. WINK
I'd like to tackle Fantasyland next-- hopefully the lines aren't ridiculous yet. We've never been on Snow White's Scary Adventures-- never had much of a desire. Since it's closing, however, I don't want to regret not riding it. We'll do Peter Pan's Flight, too-- the sight of Zach's interaction with the little girl that made him realize how amazing Disney is! We like other FL rides, too-- Mickey's Philharmagic is a personal favorite and Zach LOVES iasw, but since those infrequently have a line, I'd rather wait until the crowded part of the day. Same with Hall of Presidents and the Haunted Mansion-- I actually don't even know if either of those rides would be open during AM EMH.
I'm assuming BTMRR and Splash will already have decent-sized lines at this point, but if not, we'll ride both of those. As I said before-- we are pretty laid back once we get to each park. We know what we'd like to ride and try to make sure we fit each in, but don't have a set plan of what to hit when.
Once lunchtime hits, though, I know where we'll be-- Cosmic Rays!
MagicKingdom1-151-1-300x225.jpg

I love the variety here! Plus, I think the rotisserie chicken will be a nice alternative to chicken nuggets and fries-- I don't want to get stuck in the same rut that we did last trip!
After lunch, we'll hit up some more rides and definitely stop at our two favorite snack stops-- Aloha Isle for me (Dole Whip!!) and Main Street Bakery for Zach (pastry and coffee)!
YummypastriesfromMainStreetBakery.jpg

Most likely, we'll leave the park around 4. After hitting every park for rope drop, we learned last trip that afternoon rests are essential! We don't nap or swim-- mostly just rest in the room and change for dinner.
We'll probably leave POR around 6:00 for our 8:00 p.m. Reservation in Epcot...

The Coral Reef!
I hope we have enough time to ride Test Track before dinner-- it's one of our favorites. Last trip, we made the mistake of thinking we had enough time to ride it before our Coral Reef ADR and ended up running to the Seas to make our reservation! All was well, but the stress wasn't worth it! We'll only ride this year if we DEFINITELY have enough time.
I forgot to take a picture of the sundress I'll be changing into, but it's exactly the same as the one in this picture, just in navy blue:
SoinlovewitheachotherandDisney.jpg

It's very comfortable-- plus, I do think it goes with the “sea” theme of the day very well! (Ariel by day, blue dress/Coral Reef by night.)
I just adore the Coral Reef-- last trip, we had phenomenal service and great food. Plus, even though it's filled with kids (obviously, it's Disney!), I find the atmosphere romantic. Perfect for a “date!”
Epcot will definitely be closed by the time we get out of dinner, so we'll head straight for the buses. I know we'll sleep soundly after a perfect first full day!

Your plans for your first full day sound great! I can't sleep in hotels either, I'm always up early. Which, like you said, is great for Disney!

Sounds like you've got a great day planned at MK and I'm hoping you get a chance to ride Test Track before your ADR at Coral Reef! :goodvibes Never been there myself, but it's definitely on my list!!!

Exactly! I think it has something to do with the unfamiliar lighting/sounds. My body knows something is up!

It was sooo delicious last trip! I hope it lives up to our expectations again!

Sounds like a very full but fun 1st day! We've never eaten at Coral Reef so I'll be curious to read your review.

Catching up!

I'm so with Zach about teleporting being the best superpower. I am stressing the flight in May already. I mean, even before it was booked, I was stressing it. Haha, I don't even want to talk about it now because it's making me nervous ...

I love the trip recap where you explained how Zach got bitten by the Disney bug!

Whoa, gigantic snake in Swiss Family Treehouse? My mom and I once saw a snake at WDW, but it was more like a garden snake. There was a CM nearby making sure people were aware of it, and then it suddenly darted into the bushes. My mom had to walk by those bushes and up the stairs to get to where we were going, and that was so scary especially because it was nighttime! Haha, but when you said gigantic snake, I was thinking like, GIGANTIC SNAKE. Scary!

I didn't think I'd want to watch Lights Motor Action, but I went because I knew Howard would like it. I ended up LOVING it. Haha, I don't know why. Yeah, they do take time setting up the scenes and such, but we would talk and people watch and do the trivia questions they put up. We loved the stunts. I mean, even I loved the stunts, and I'm not a car person. I like my little Honda CR-V and don't want to drive anything else. I guess it all just reminded me of action movies, and I guess I do like a good car chase once in a while!

I love the "Genie, I wish for your freedom" line too!!!

That Ariel shirt is so cute! That outfit is so appropriate for Disney! I get what you mean about wearing Disney shirts in real life. When we have dress down days at school, I wear Disney t-shirts and look like a student, haha. Then on Saturdays, I wear a Disney shirt when I'm with Howard. However, when I have to go out on my own, I think twice about it. That's why I have a bunch of t-shirts that are Disney but don't have characters on them. That way people can tell if they examine it closely, but it's not screaming Mickey. I like those when I have to go to the city, haha.

I've heard a lot of good things about LMA, but neither Zach nor I are particularly good with change haha. We like our little Disney routine and it's like pulling teeth to get us to break it! We'll see what we do, though!
Even our casual work days are not that casual, so there's pretty much two days a week I could wear something Disney-- and those two days are dominated by casual clothing I already own haha. I am kind of itching for a Disney long sleeved tee, though! We'll see if anything sticks out at me this trip!

Day three will begin around 7:15- giving us enough time to head to the bus stop by 8 for a 9:00 a.m. opening at DHS! We plan on basically a half day here – we're not too crazy about the shows, so five hours is usually plenty of timeto accomplish what we want to do!
I'll be wearing this shirt with a pair of black corduroy shorts (that I cannot currently find!):
I thought the rhinestones made it very “Hollywood!” Beyond that, it's nice and leight weight-- perfect for the August heat. It is very pale pink and would not be suitable for the water rides of MK and AK-- another reason I decided DHS was the perfect park to wear it to!
ptr201118.jpg

Like most people in the park, we'll spiritedly walk (not run!) to TSMM. This is one of our favorites-- Zach especially loves it. The last time we rode was pre- Toy Story 3 (which makes me tear up at the mere mention of the title), so I'm curious to see the new game they added that relates to the newest movie. We'll definitely ride stand-by first and then check out the FP line-- if the return time is when we think we'll still be in the park, we'll pick up a set.
SupercoolMrPotato.jpg

Does anyone know how the Star Tours refurb has been affecting its lines? I've literally never waited for this ride-- midday, summer, whenever. It's always been a walk-on. We'll head to it after TSMM regardless, but I'm still hoping for a fairly short line. We're both a little nervous about this ride-- me because I LOVED the theme of the old ride. I thought the “flight” idea was so cool and very well executed (this may stem from my flying obsession!). I hope I like the new design just as much. Zach is nervous it will predominately feature pod racing (I think this is some sort of original trilogy Star Wars geek thing...)
Jeditrainingacademy.jpg

Zach wishes he could do Jedi Training Academy!
After our trip to wherever, we'll hop over to our favorite DHS snack stop-- Writer's Stop! Zach will probably get a coffee. I can't wait for a carrot cake cookie! Anyone know if you can bring food/drinks into the BATB theater? We found out in 2009 that you definitely cannot bring anything into the VOTLM theater. (Because, you know, while you're waiting in line outside “Throw that away! You can't drink that in the attraction!” works so much better than “I'm sorry, but you won't be able to bring that inside with you. However, just so you know, the next show isn't for 40 minutes if you'd like to step aside and finish your coffee.” This was our only interaction with a rude CM that trip. I hope we're just as lucky this time.)
If food is allowed, now would be a great time for a BATB showing! If not (or if there's not a showing soon after we get off Star Tours, we'll just take a break and enjoy our treats on a bench somewhere (or in Writer's Stop-- I do love those couches!). At some point, we will see BATB! It brings tears to my eyes-- I saw the Broadway production and really believe the DHS show truly holds its own in comparison.
Speaking of BATB (since none of my BATB show pictures are uploaded to Photobucket), I saw this rose in one of the fancy DTD shops and was obsessed.
BeautyandtheBeast.jpg

I don't recall the price, but if it's not too ridiculous, I may splurge a bit and purchase it if it's still there! I make a lot more money now than I did our last trip, and since we won't be back for awhile, I don't want to have any regrets! (Of course, if it's anywhere in the range of the famous $38,000 crystal castle...not going to happen!)
I'll definitely ride TOT and RNRC at some point (we'll see if Zach does the latter with me!).We like the Great Movie Ride well enough and will probably go on that. One Man's Dream and eating lunch at Pizza Planet are absolute must-do's! I know most people are split about PP-- we're in the love it camp! We also agreed to see one new show-- it'll probably end up being Indy, after discussing things with Zach. We'll see. Last trip, we skipped the Muppets (I've seen it on both coasts), so I'd like Zach to be able to experience it.
I think we'll be ready to leave DHS by 3. After relaxing and changing at POR, we'll leave our resort around 6 for our 7:30 reservation at WCC! I love the WL and want to stay there for our next trip. Zach has never seen the inside, but he commented that the outside looked out of place in Florida. I hope the gorgeous interior can change his mind. Also, our favorite local BBQ joint closed in early June :sad2: We had no idea, so we didn't go for a “last summer.” It's been ages since I've had BBQ~ I hope WCC's food is as yummy as the pictures make it look!
After our hopefully yummy and fun dinner, we'll head to the MK for EMH! I hope the PP photographers will be out in full force (we ordered the CD), because I love the dress I'll be wearing that night:
ptr2011003.jpg

It doesn't fit a theme or anything, I just really like it! Note: if anyone has any unusual PP spots, please let me know! I want to make full use of the CD, and last trip 90% of our pictures were in front of the castle.
I absolutely love the MK at night. Sans the slight blurriness and random guy's head, I love this picture:
Lovedthatclock.jpg

After some rides and fun, we'll head back to POR. EMH lasts until 1 and I hope we make it until at least 12:30! I think this day will end up being one of my favorites-- DHS isn't our favorite, but it does have some great attractions. I get super excited just thinking about our nighttime plans. I know it'll be wonderful!

Another PTR update coming up!!

This trip is definitely sneaking up on me! I mean-- we booked last December and now we're less than 3 weeks away! :cool1::cool1: Amazing, but how did that happen??
I have a bit more free time on my hands today than usual because I took a work from home day. Now, this was not self imposed. They shut down our entire office building (my company occupies three floors of a 11-story building in the city) because they found what might be...a BED BUG!! Everyone is just sick over this. Our CFO spoke with the building super and made sure to tell everyone that they only suspect and have no proof, but to be on the safe side, they shut the office down for the day while they fumigate. I pray that it was nothing!!
I decided to hang out at Starbucks to work-- I learned how distracting my office is when I finished a normal day's amount of work in approximately 3.5 hours! I only brought so much home with me, so I decided writing PTR updates and doing some trip planning was totally appropriate as long as I was by my phone and computer in case my supervisor needed to reach me. ;)
I'm getting overwhelmed thinking about everything that I have to do/get before the trip, so I decided writing it down in my trip planning document (38 pages on MS Word!) and sharing it with you would help ease my nerves. I do love having lists that I can check things off of!

Things To Do:
- Get a mani/pedi (already made my appointment for Sunday before the trip!)
- Get my hair colored (still have to make an appointment-- probably for a week from this Sunday. Have to look good in those PP pictures!)
- Go to Target to pick up toiletries!
- Decide if we're going to stay at a Universal Resort Hotel. Zach and I set tomorrow night after work as our time to discuss this. We're going get take out, weigh the pros and cons, and come to a decision! I'll let you all know what we decide!
- Purchase US/IOA tickets. Whether we stay at US or not, we still need a one day, two-park ticket with transportation.
- PACK! I'll do my bag the Saturday before our trip so I have time on Sunday to run out again if there's something I've forgotten.
- Online check-in. We've heard there's a greater chance of our room being ready when we arrive (around 1:00 p.m.) if we check in online. Anyone have experience with this? What about a less/greater likelihood of of room requests being granted??
- Check in for our flight and print boarding passes! I'll do this at work the day before we leave. We're flying Airtran and I paid the extra couple of dollars to have our seats selected in advance. This way, no worries about sitting together. I chose the seats closest to the front of the plane for both the trip to Florida and the return :sad1: flight.
- Pick up some magazines/possibly a new book for reading on the plane. My favorite place to buy magazines, Borders, recently closed near us (as someone who works in publishing, and just a lover of Borders in general, this was VERY sad), so I'll probably just pick some up when we make our Target toiletries trip.
- Make our daily itinerary cards. In addition to our Disney binder, I like to bring an index card for each day with: the park/s we plan to go to, their operating ours, ADR time/confirmation number, and a festive Disney scrapbooking sticker ;)

Things to Buy:
- Mini sunscreen to have in carry-on
- Snacks for the plane/room (Special-K bars, Disney fruit snacks!)
- New full-size shampoo and conditioner-- I bought high-quality containers from the Container Dtore, so I'm going to buy high-quality, anti-frizz shampoo/conditioner to pour into them.
- Travel pack of make-up remover wipes
- Schick Intuition razor refills-- I love these for vacation. It's so much faster and easier than using a traditional razor/shaving cream.
- Travel packs of medicine (Pepto-Bismol and Advil)
- New memory card-- I plan on taking lots of pictures this trip and don't want to worry about deleting old pictures in the middle of our vacation.
- Travel sized: mouthwash and toothpaste (I thought I had a bunch of half-full toothpastes but I can't find them!)
- Magazines for both of us

I feel like I have a lot to do/buy! Plus, I am going to Boston this weekend to visit two of my best friends from high school, so that knocks out two days where I could be getting stuff accomplished. I don't get home until pretty late on weekend nights (Between 7 and 7:30), so it's really only those two weekends that I have!! Ahhh-- I'm trying to stop myself from stressing out!

I love that dress! Where did you get it??

I'm in the I love Pizza Planet camp too. That place is so fun and I like Disney pizza. Sure, I'm from Jersey, boardwalk pizza will crush Disney pizza any day but...I'll eat it!

I did online check-in last year. We had a king bed requested and didn't get it but my friends did and they did regular check-in. :confused3 Also, I don't know if it was the CM we had, but I had to remind them to give us buttons because they forgot.

Day 3 sounds fun! I can't believe you're leaving so soon!

Thanks! I actually got it at Forever 21. I am not usually a fan of that store-- a little young/cheap for me, but they have cute sundresses for low prices! I think that dress was $12.50!
Haha, same-- I just had a real NY thin crust pizza in Chelsea for lunch...but still love Pizza Planet!
I feel a bit sad-- we don't have anything button-worthy this trip :sad1: Zach learned to love his first trip button last time!
