How can people STAND using Internet explorer

I downloaded "Pop This!" from a site called download.com, and it's fantastic!! And it's free....... I used to get TONS of pop-ups, and now I get none.

I can even tell it which site's pop-ups to allow, which comes in handy.

I use IE, along with Ad-Aware and PanicWare's Companion, works well, no popups that I do not want.

rockin robin: im right w/ you on the IE thing....i get popups like every 10 seconds and it drives me insane! ....and sometimes they will freeze my computer so i have to restart it....its ridiculous!

Why would you pay an additional $10 to $20 per month for AOL when a free pop-up blocker will get you what you need?

I don't use a pop-up blocker--most of the sites I visit don't have pop-ups anyway, but my husband uses pop-up eraser. He got it off of

Downloads.com .

I use IE and use the blockers. I don't normally have a problem until I go to certain sites.

I use IE, but I have norton firewall which has a pop up blocker, and I also have Cybersitter, which has a pop up blocker..I haven't seen a pop up since installing these programs last November...

CometCursor is right up there with Gator as the worst spyware EVER, they both record information every time you enter your address, name, phone number, credit card number on a website, and theres nothing stopping them from selling it.


As for AOL I wouldn't install it on my dog's computer let alone my own, it takes over your machine way to much, if you ever look into the registry there is a trace of aol in almost ever key. The only way to get it completely uninstalled is to reinstall the OS, I won't trust anything that would take over my network settings like it does either.

Robin, I was like you too, before I switched over. Now I'm addicted to AIM and can't stand AOL. It is soooooooooo slow and there are a bunch of useless things on there that add to the slowness of the computer.

Takes FOREVER to just load, takes up the whole screen, lots of bug...ehhh, I left AOL behind in 9th grade when I got my cable modem and never looked back

The only time I can understand using AOL would be if one had dialup.

Not sure why ppl would want to use it on dialup either..

theres plenty of local and national providers that are alot cheaper than AOL, and don't force you to use their proprietary software.

Netscape has just as much spyware now as the others ever since version 6 they started installing it without anyone knowing..

theres so many ways to block popups with IE it's funny google bar does the best job and pop up killer the next in line.

I have no problems pop-ups and IE either. But, I absolutely HATE AOL and go crazy when I need to research something on my parents computer with their AOL. (Ssssshhh, please don't tell anyone you heard that from me though since I work in the Time Warner (formerly AOL Time Warner) building.)

I use IE with the Google Toolbar as well. The Google Toolbar does a GReAT job. Of course if you use IE, unprotected, you will get nailed. Especially since the default settings are pretty lax as far as security.

The Google Toolbar is great because it not only blocks pop-ups, but it is also a VERY handy portal into the Google search engine. I also like the highlight and jump-to buttons on the Toolbar.

I am leary about Page Rank, but it sure beats things like CometCursor and Gator as far as Spyware!

CometCursor is one of the MANY "malicious" applications that Ad-Aware or Spybot S&D will remove.

My BIL has AOL and I would rather have bamboo shoots stuck under my fingernails than use AOL. I hate the fact that you need to re-maximize the window after every screen re-fresh and I hate all that extra advertising junk that sits around the rest of the windows. I'll take IE with my google toolbar/pop-up blocker any day over that.
