How can people be so mean.

I'm so sorry for your loss, and I can totally relate. I just lost my golden retriever Riley two weeks ago. He was 10 years old. As you said, the grief is unbearable. I just didn't tell anyone who wouldn't understand. I told those who knew how special he was and who would lend me a sympathetic shoulder to cry on.

Once again, I am so sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry for your loss:hug::hug:

There are people out there who dont see pets as members of their family but then there are other's who know that pets are their furbabies. They have feelings and needs just like children do. They become one of your children and when they pass or even go missing it's devistating and heartbreaking. I'm so very sorry again that you lost your furbaby.

I am so sorry for your loss.

People are just dumb. it's one thing if they don't get how you feel, but they don't have permission to say some cruel things just because they don't feel the same.

I'm sorry you lost your baby. I know how sad that can be. I tend to think the people that say things like that have never had a pet so don't understand how it feels. I would hope they aren't being mean on purpose, and that they're just clueless. Either way, don't listen to them.

I'm sorry about your dog. It is hard to lose a furbaby. :grouphug:

I am so sorry for your loss. The people that usually say "it's just a..." or "you can get another" don't really realize how much that phrase can hurt and have not lost a pet that they love and truly do not know.

We haven't been able to have our own children - so our pets are our babies.

We had a Rotweiller who was our baby for 10 years until we had to put her down (due to arthritis that paralyzed her). DH & I cried for days and still miss her to this day (almost 7 years now). It took us a while but we did get another dog - this time a border collie mix. We love her to death - total opposite of our Rottie! And if something happens to her - we'll be basket cases again.

We have a 20-year-old cat who is my baby boy. I know he won't live forever and when that day comes - DH knows I will be a hopeless basket case. My parents rescued him when he was a kitten (right after I got married); when my parents passed away, he came to live with us. He's my last "link" to my parents. I don't even want to think about that day!

Again, I'm so sorry for your loss!

Sorry for your loss . I cant even imagine to lose my dog, you love them so much they become a part of the family.

I am so sorry you lost your friend.

When my cat died last year, I was the one who felt silly for crying, because she was just "a cat". My sister told me that she was a living creature who had loved me and I had every right to cry. So do you!

And yes, I still miss my Diana.

I am so sorry for your loss. It hurts so much because you loved so much. Feel bad for those poor people who have never known the love of a wonderful pet. Their lives are pretty empty.........

Sorry for your loss.

When a previous dog I had died, I went and got a new puppy a few days later. I missed having a dog in the house and I felt that it would make the pain a bit easier to deal with. I went to work and was telling people about the new puppy and one of the managers said, "Wow, it didn't take you very long to replace your dog. Would you have done that if it was a kid?" :scared1:

The moral of the story? Some people are idiots and they say whatever comes to their mind without the filter working.

People say stuff like that because they are idiots. Or they are heartless and have never known the love of an animal.

I feel for you. My dog has been gone 3.5 years and there are still days when I cry over him.

First, I am so very sorry for the loss of your sweet dog.

People don't understand the love of a dog or they would never say that. They are ignorant and I pity them.

I am so sorry for your loss. He was not "just" a dog- he was one of your family members.

I know how you feel. My cat Fender who we had for 16 years died on Columbus Day three years ago. Even though the sharp pain of his loss has gone away, I still miss him and think about him. We even have a couple of pictures of him framed around the house.

Take care.
