How can I use my Kindle Fire outdoors?

The glare makes it impossible for me to read on my Kindle when I'm lying out by the pool. Someone mentioned buying some antiglare shields that are sold for the Kindle Fire. Are they just filtering clear paper that sticks on the screen? And do they work? And if not, would I have to buy a new model that is readable outdoors? If so, which model is best for someone who wants to read outside?

I was so frustrated when I found out that my Kindle Fire doesn't work outside very well. I did reverse the colors, black background with white letters and if you shield the screen with the cover and wear sunglass, you can kinds read along.

From now on, I will bring my Kindle Paper-white when I've vacationing in a pool or ocean area.

You can find a used Kindle basic. You will be able to sync them so that you can pick up one book on one device and then read it later on the other.

Oh, this irritates me also. With all the cool features the Fire has it's a darn shame ya can't read it outside:headache: I have been taking my old Kindle Keyboard outside to read:mad:

I have an older kindle with the keyboard and I love to sit in the sun next to the pool and read...(and will do when the snow is gone again)...I also took it to Disney last May and enjoyed reading outside.
They are not as expensive as the New Kindle fire ones..

I have a Fire. I bought an anti glare shield for the screen and when I am outside, I turn the brightness all the way up. With that, I can usually read with no problem. I also have a regular Kindle but find I stick with the Fire almost all the time.

Is this the same as the basic Kindle that's for sale at Amazon? I also heard that Target sells Kindles so I'll check there.

Thanks for the info about syncing them. I was kind of wondering-if I had 2 of them, one for outdoors, and the Fire for indoors, if I could read the same book on either of them, and if I read 39% on one Kindle, can I then pick up the other Kindle and be at 39% in the same book. Sounds like I can.

I second, third or whatever we are up to buying a eInk reader for reading outside. You can get the new ones for as cheap as $69 now and you can pick up a used one on EBAY for dead cheap. I actually own several. I keep one in my computer bag and one out in my car and one sits permanently on my nightstand and then I have my "main Kindle."

Target doesn't sell the Kindles anymore. Best Buy has them.
