How can i use my deluxe dining plan credits

I'm DVC too, lol. it must be something in the blood. I bought in in 1999 and that spreadsheet didn't fail me, I expect this one won't either! lol
We bought in 1999 too. Wanted OKW but it had sold out so own at BWV.

I know this thread is a good half year old, but I thought I'd make sure I understand the nature of the DxDP. We have a two BR and a studio at BCV booked (arriving in just 103 days!!) and we currently have elected to get the deluxe dining plan for the adult and two kiddos staying in the studio. We're staying five nights. The 2 BR has seven people (all adults in the eyes of Disney as the other two kiddos are now ten) staying in it. So this means we would have 45 credits to use any way we see fit, right? Anyways, we're planning on using the credits to feed everyone for those five nights. We currently have Les Chef de France (10 credits), Yachtsman Steakhouse (only the true adults, kids are at the Sandcastle club so 12 credits), Via Napoli (10 credits- but it sounds like this could be a problem) and then Skipper Canteen (10 credits), which would use up all but three credits.

Assuming the rules don't change (and I'm not totally clear on what those rules are) we will be able to do this right? Thanks for the clarity!

Yes, as of right now you can do this. I'm not sure about Via Napoli because we only eat there when not on a ddp but someone will chime in.

My experience with Via Napoli is that they will not let you take one step outside of the plan provision. The children will need to order off of the children's menu, and only one adult will be able to use the plan. No sharing, no using more credits that there are on the room.

We did this in December. We also had two rooms. We had the deluxe plan for 2 adults and 3 kids. The other room had 3 adults with no dining plan. At every restaurant we went to we used 5 credits to pay for the adults. We had the kids eat from our plates. It was more than enough food with appetizers entrees and dessserts. We didn't go to Via Napoli tho.

They now allow you to share the credits with other people (3 people on the room vs 5 people at dinner) but the kids still have to order off the kids menu.

Thanks all! What about buffets? For example Biergarten or the Cape May buffet? Would that be a problem with our situation? And just as a reminder we have one DVC room with one adult and two kids and then another DVC room for the rest of the party, totaling a party of 10. We're planning on using all our credits just for dinners for the entire group.

You may want to pay out of pocket for the kids at the buffets. Depending on how many meals you have planned, it may work out cheaper to save those credits for an adult meal elsewhere.

Same here - DVC since 1999 - have done Dining Plan all years except two and they were nightmares - always ran out of money on my pre-paid cards and stressful. I use a spreadsheet too. If anyone needs a copy, PM me with your email and I'll send a sample. Glad to know I am not the only one!!!

What I did back in January was use the "kids" meal credits towards an adult buffet and then pay out of pocket for the kid buffet.

Note -- this only works for the deluxe dining plan since all meal credits are considered the same.

Alrighty, folks... I'm trying to remember or locate where the terms and conditions are for the Deluxe Dining plan on the Disney website. I know it seems to be the case that that there is no designation of adult or child on this plan, but I'd love to see it in writing.

Also, any recent experiences? We leave tomorrow... Thanks!

The only thing you will find in writing is "kid's must order off a kid's menu where available." The practice of using kid's credits for adult meals is "allowed" because of what is NOT in writing and that is that you can use your credits to "pay" for meals for people not on your plan. And, since DxDDP can be used for either TS or QS, they don't put them in their own slots because there are too many QS that don't have a kid's menu.

Although I do not have any "children" dining, we are going in December also and upgraded to the DxDDP on one and left the free QS on the other. We will have 30 credits between 5 people so that gives us 6 meals total and then we will have 30 QS credits and 50 snack credits. That is a whole lot of food for 5 people. We did the DxDDP because we wanted the option of an app for each meal. With 5 people we can almost try all of them if we want. We are hoping it will work well for us.

Can you tell us what your experience was? Thank you!
