How can I sell an extra ticket for The Lion King on Broadway?

Go to the show early and look for someone in line at the box office. My DD and I went to see Beauty and the Beast in Atlanta a few years ago and we were in line to buy tickets. A couple with a young daughter came up and said they had 2 tickets to sell since the grandparents couldn't make it. I told them I would buy them but I only had $26 cash on me as I was planning on using my credit card. These were at least $50 tickets, but they gave them to me for that! I offered to go to an ATM because I felt bad, but they said they would have just went to waste anyway, and to just pay it forward. :goodvibes

So, I think you could sell it the day of, but be prepared to accept less than face value.

There are many people who go to the theater by themselves. If I was going to be in NYC in June, I'd buy it.

Because many people come to Manhattan on business, they often travel alone. If they're from out of town and don't know anyone, they would buy a single ticket to a Broadway play. If you're going to NYC for the first time, taking in a show is part of the experience.

That particular show is geared towards families, so it might not be a big seller. Contact the box office and ask for suggestions. Stubhub is a good option.

Scalping, or reselling tickets, is technically illegal in NY state unless you're a licensed reseller. However, sales happen all the time; walk up to any venue and hear "tickets, tickets, who needs tickets?" You can sell tickets on eBay or Stubhub without being a licensed reseller.

To the above poster, Broadway theater tickets are non-refundable.

Not always true; if it's a popular show (which Lion King is) sometimes the box office will buy the tickets back from you and resell them to the cancellation line.

OP, I would try Stubhub first. When I lived in the city I went to shows by myself all the time.

OP here. I called the box office and was told they do not buy back tickets, even for the Lion King. :( Just an FYI

You could go to the half price ticket sale on the day of the show and let people know you have a great seat for the show. Can't remember the name of the park where the que is but it's where the James Cohen statue is. I would just give it to the bellman or concierge at my hotel in exchange for other services.

If there is any way that it can change to two seats, I would buy them.
