how can i make dh enjoy a disney cruise when all he wants is

a cruise ship with gambling?! He keeps throwing it in my face that he didnt want a disney cruise.
However, I remember him wanting to buy into DVC. So as soon as DVC is paid off there will be another cruise line but until then how do I get him to look forward to our Eastern Cruise Nov 30th?

There are casinos on the Dutch side in St Martin where the Magic docks. Disney has so many shows and activities going on during the cruise that I'm sure hubby might enjoy. Nightclubs for adults only, ESPN Zone, adult only pool... .

Get involved in the Bingo everyday. It is fun and you can win some decent money. The final jackpot usually gets over $4000.00. And as Hopkins says you can gamble in St. Marten. Boat is docked there early morning through evening. There is so much to do on the ship!!!!!!!

Do you have legalized gambling anywhere close to where you live? If so, let him have a little splurge there to get it out of his system before the cruise. My hubby is a gambler, although he usually sticks to the lottery. But every now and then he likes to go to a casino. Fortunately, we have legalized gambling about a 20 minute drive away, so we go there a couple of times a year. We never miss it on the ship...we've gone to the casino in Nassau a couple of times but found it boring because there is so much else to do. When I'm on a cruise, I don't want to "waste" my time doing something I can just as easily do back home!

IF ALL ELSE FAILS...(meaning dumping him off in Searchlight, Nev.) here's what you do.

Make him a kit (same thinking as you do for 3 year olds on airplanes). Include cards, dice, poker chips, if he has a laptop make sure there's some video poker on there. If you want to get really jiggy set him up with his cards when the kids are in the kids club. Grab a tray, stuff your bathing suit top and walk back and forth by him saying "cocktails!". After he's had a few he'll be quite happy and think he's in Las Vegas. At that point leave him with his dice and cards, take the money he would have spent in the casino and head for the onboard jewelry store for a shopping spree.

You could always point out that not only can he gamble on the islands, but if you went on a different ship, you wouldnt have the surial bath.

As a visitor to Las Vegas and the Connecticut casinos, I can tell him that Disney not having gambling is one of the biggest favors they can do for him.

While no one should expect to win over the long haul (exlcuding comps, slot club points, bonuses and the such) since every gambling is mathematical favorable to the house, there are tremendous variations in expected return.

Even in Las Vegas,where competition is rampant, you will find a large fluctuation in the expected return rates from one casino to another. The only game they cannot really vary the potential return on is Craps, and they make up for that by adjusting the odds.

In a non-competitive world of cruise gambling, there is a captive audience. The table rules are about as bad as the get and slot pay-offs are miserable. I have looked at many cruise casinos and laughed that anyone would even consider playing.

If he wants to gamble, he should have a gambling trip seperate from a cruise. His odds will be better, his comps will be better and he will have more fun

Yeah, on the whole ship casinos are a money toilet, too crowded and too smokey, but I had good luck once.

I was on the Monarch of the Seas and they had a slot tournament with a first prize of $250 and a bottle of champagne and some other stuff. There was a 10 dollar entry fee. Only three of us showed up and all three of us were winners! LOL. I went back to the cabin $250 richer and passed out the free stuff to my amazed fellow cruisers. Not bad for 10 bucks and 10 minutes work.

Excellent suggestion! Head to CT and visit Foxwoods or Monhegan Sun.

We just may need to head to Foxwoods in Oct for our anniversary before our Nov cruise. DH loves Foxwoods.

Nobody's mentioned that there are two casino cruises that leave from Port Canaveral. Get to Port Canaveral a day early and take an evening casino cruise. That should allow him to get the gambling out of his system AND appreciate how much nicer the Disney ship is.

There are two options...

Of the two, Sterling appears to be a nicer boat and offers a better deal.

my DH is only going because it makes me happy. He suggests your DH and him set up a card game in one of the lounges one night just to get in a game of poker or something informal. Wouldn't that be just too fun?

My parents are into casinos and have been on both.

The Sun Cruz is a converted ferry or tour boat or something. And the casino was dirty, smoky, the lunch was things like cold cut sandwiches and the quality poor.

The Sterling, on the other hand is a refitted cruise ship, a large choice of gaming venues, the meal offered onboard was excpetional. And the trip more pleasant. They're been on it numerous times now.

Line that up with a precruise stay at a Cocoa Beach hotel for the night before and you'd be set.

Dave ----you are so smart --if they decide to go on either ship, I have special tickets that were given to me for extra slots etc - they can have them and enjoy ------I love the Sterling - much bigger ship but the odds of finding a table is about 100 to 1 (so forget about gambling except maybe the slots)--the Sun Cruz is much smaller -haven't been out on that one for it seems too small and I can imagine me out on the ocean on a small ship -I would spend my time with my head in a barf bag -

Wow - thank you Dave & Shirley. You guys are the best (Barb too). We are flying into Orlando the Fri before at 10am. Fri night we already have ressies at the Radisson. This would be a great idea. I can send DH on the Sterling 7pm and DS and I can stay behind to swim. Any idea how long the ship goes out? Shirley, how can I get the slots tickets? That is mostly what DH plays. Thanks so much

According to their web site, the 7pm Sterling cruise on Friday nights returns at 1am.
