Bf and I are going in September, and then next February. What DVC member perks could she benefit from, room discounts (do they exist?), etc.

Do they ever offer free dining in February?

Thanks! :moped:

From what i've read, DVC Owners will never be able to take advantage of the Free Dining Plan. To recieve that, you have to book a rack rate room, and purchase at least a 1 day park ticket.

DVC member perks are things like $100 discounts on APs, some restaurant discounts, and an occational discount on shows. There is also free valet parking at the DVC resorts that offer the service. DVC members are able to purchase the dining plan for just the dining plan part(no ticket media required), but DVC will never qualify for free dining unless you pay rack rate during the month of September.

No I figured about the free dining and DVC, I meant, free dining in February with a rack rate room, no DVC involved. OR a DVC discount only on a room for her?

Sorry for not being more specific, I jumped the gun on my posting, before I worked the thoughts out. :)

First of all, I've never heard of any free dining in February ever. Secondly, I think DVC discounts are for the member only while they are staying in the room or at least on the same reservation.

Some are available to friends family but it's a moving target and they must be staying on your points to do so or with a member.

The above perks are member perks, and are not available for guests of members. Same thing with pool-hopping. You are usually asked for your blue member card to take advantage of these perks.

This perk is available to anyone staying on DVC points, not just to members, so she will be able to take advantage to this one.

free dinning is only offered in late Aug and Sept - guess what this happens to be hurricane season.

that is the reason for free dinning.

February is not even in hurricane season - so this won't happen sorry.

if you are the member you must be staying in the room/villa to get the DVC discount. Now you can use your points and get her a room - there is not a problem with that.

She cannot benefit from any of your member perks unless she is travelling with you - and then her benefits to your perks will be limited - she can pool hop with you, but unless you share the same address, can't get an AP discount. Cash discounts on DVC rooms are only available to members staying in the rooms.

For future trips, if I paid cash for a room and she stayed in it with me, then I could get a discount on the room, what type of discount would it be (this is purely hypothetical)?

The member discount is not always available. But, if they have member cash discounted units, they are 25% off rack rate, at DVC resorts only. And as previously stated, the member needs to occupy the room.
