How can I get DD when she gets home from school (Update)?

I like cleaning too.
I would also ask if anything is wrong -if she is worried about something etc....
If this happens often in the AMs I would work out some kind of plan.
Going to bed earlier or -getting up earlier or laying out clothes ahead of time
Strategies to help her mornings go smoother
Good luck
parenting -toughest job in the world

I'd say she should clean and organize her room and come up with a plan on how to keep her school papers organized. That seems like the logical consequence to me. It doesn't even have to be a negative thing. You could be totally positive about it (while explaining why she should talk to you like that!).

When I was about 13, I had thrown a mini-fit about something (minor fit--I wouldn't have dared throw a big fit...my dad was very strict). I came home from school to find a note in my desk from my dad about how messy my room was, how there were empty drawers in my desk, and I needed to get it organized NOW. The fact that he went in my room, looked through my drawers, and left me a note where only I'd find it really made me rethink my behavior. I could have died!

Not a parent but if I was her I'd certainly change my ways after having to clean my room and go to bed an extra hour early tonight.

Good luck mom! :)

We used to get the worst chores for that kind of stuff..cleaning the bathrooms to include the toilet, cleaning out the fridge, cleaning baseboards around the floor, ect.

My mom's motto was if you've got enough extra energy to throw around in a hissy fit then she has better uses for it.:rotfl2:

OP, here...

So DD has no playdates for a week, has a spotless room (dusted, windexed, decluttered, and fully vacummed I might add - even made her put away the vacuum just right) and is also sleeping soundly after going to bed early. Poor thing missed watching TV and playing outside with her siblings, but oh well. She also ate dinner in her room while breaking from cleaning.

Thanks for the ideas everyone - I love Dawn's mom's line! :rotfl:
