How can I get a free upgrade at the Swan/Dolphin

I read of people booking a "free" upgrade. How can I get this at the Swan/Dolphin?

Don't know if it's still there but in January through early February if you booked through the link on this site through DU they had a free 1 category upgrade and late check out for DIS members. HTH

I was also told that I would get an upgrade and late check out (2PM) with the annual pass code that I used for June - it was different than regular AP - I found it on mousesavers.com.

If you are a Starwood Platinum member, you are supposed to be given the best available room on arrival, regardless of the room you booked. This is, of course, subject to availability.

I received a double upgrade last year (standard to club level). I assumed it was because I was a Starwood Preferred Plus (through AAA) member and it was a slow time of year so rooms were available.

I suppose the real answer is, "Don't expect one." Let the front desk surprise you.
