Does anyone know who I could contact to donate points for family with a sick child? Thanks.

I would also like to know if there is a way to donate points.

unless you are donating enough for a full trip, I don't know how "donating" the odd point here and there will help.

if you are in a postion to donate a whole trip, simply contact your local hopital admin. explain to them what you have in mind. Do be mindful that even with free lodging, a WDW is out of reach from a $ perspective for many.

Another angle would be to contact a local lions club, they have many projects to help children who are ill. Once again, it won't help much unless you have done the leg work to get enough points for a FULL TRIP.

good luck and Gods speed.......

I would donate enough points for a 7 day vacation in a one bedroom.

contact your local lions club. They may cover the other cost for a wdw trip.

btw, my daugher has the flu...........

any chance you could?............well you know.

Thanks 3boats. I will look into the Lions Club.

Another option is to contact the Make a Wish foundation.

how awful to compare a child's "flu" to the same situation in which a child is terminally ill...

This is only 3boats' sense of humor coming through; nothing disrespectful is meant, I'm sure. Growing up in my family, we all have a similar sense of humor. Having read many of his posts, I'm always happy to see it - or perhaps I'm the one with the problem when I find his comments humorous?

Don't mean to speak for you, 3boats, but thought I'd jump in!

My child got the flu at 14 months old and was left severely brain damaged from encephalitis caused by the high fever. She is non-verbal, non-mobile and 100% dependent for the rest of her life on others.
I don't think it's good to make light of any sick child...

tigger2on, I am so sorry to hear about your child. I totally agree with your post and can understand your feelings.
Again tigger, sorry about what happened. I've heard that it can happen in a few of my college courses a while back, its a really scary thought. :grouphug:

Let's just all get along.

Sadie- that is really sweet of you to give up a Disney vacation, I admire that.

The OP didn't say the child was terminal. Boat tried to help. I don't know why a "positive" link should turn so negative! My own son was terminal 13 years ago. He beat a stage 4 cancer. Lighten up everyone, it was a joke! :confused3

As for Sadie :thumbsup2 What a wonderful gesture!

Thank you for your thoughts.
I am not offended by Boatboatboat... that's just "his" kind of humour.PLus he might not realized that children can die from the flu... they do every year! I just think people should "think" before certain comments as life is very precious and kids should be treated as a blessing. I look at my life now as having a child who will never leave, and though that is very sad and I wish it was different, but hey, I'll never be lonely. :)
congrats that your child got better..... mine never will :confused3

Thank you, jimmar. Sometimes when people act so immature or downright rude on these threads it makes me realize how truly blessed we are to be able to enjoy WDW on a regular basis. We (dh&I) discussed donating points the other night and feel it would be a good thing to do.

<double sigh>

The JOKE was, here we had a person (the OP) who was donating something to help someone. The OP was doing this because they are a GOOD PERSON.

Then another person (me) wants to look like a good person, so they offer suggestions. Then greed kicks in, (because they are NOT a good person) and they see a chance to score some DVC points, by claiming they have a sick child. So rather then say their child has cancer, they say their child has the flu, which in 99.99999% of cases means you get the runs, throw up, and get better the next day.

Something as seemingly innocent as the flu was chosen to make it obvious the greedy poster (me) was simply trying to obtain points buy pretending they had a sick child.

Obviously people die from the flu, they can also die from slipping on a banana peel, yet that is used as comic relief.

It's sarcasm, and irony. It's used all the time to illustrate situational humor.

If I am ever faced with an illness that leaves me with time to be "terminal", I know that over the course of time I will lose my dignity, and in time my life, I pray that throughout the journey I keep my sense of humor. I laughed with my father on his death bed, to this day he remains my hero........

To those of you who have lost a love one,............well we all have, and someday our loved ones will lose us. It's Gods will......I often wonder how God can call for a child, it baffles me. But then I think what a wonderful place heaven must be with all those children. I look forward to being with them.

I sent you a pm.

I am discouraged and I had something to say in my defense but felt it was not appropriate to vent here.
