We just got back from a 7 night stay at ASMo July 2-9. Now, with great rates on airfare and free dining, I want to go back 9/30 to 10/4. DH said we just got back, wait till next year. Christmas is not far away... blah blah blah :listen: What can I do to help convince him that it is a great opportunity to go for $1500 for EVERYTHING?!?!?! We would stay at CBR for 4 nights and pay $380 in airfare. DS turns 2 in November, so we can still get away with only 3 airline tickets! Any ideas? I am a teacher and can't go any other time. We are off 10/4 so I would take a personal day on 9/30 and 10/3 to make this happen. He's got the vacation time...so this is a no brainer to me!

We just got back 5/14, when I booked our Oct. trip on 6/1. What I did was call and get rates & dates, paid for deposit and told DH after I paid deposit. Luckily my reaction was overwhelmingly positive and he said "you should've paid for the whole thing, which I actually did but didn't tell him :rolleyes1

I would also "pad" the idea by adding...
"this will be the last chance DS can fly for free"
"We could use this as part of our christmas gifts"
"Rates will never be this low again"

If all else fails, beg, borrow and plead.
My thought is GO FOR IT before it books up!! You don't even need to put the deposit down right away, just hold the ressie then work on DH.

Keep us posted on how it goes. Sometimes you gotta "take the bull by the horns" :rotfl:

Thanks for the input. I actually contacted SWV and they have a ressie on hold until August 4. I HOPE I can convince him by then. The only gamble will be airfare though. Airtran's sale is until tomorrow. We just bought a huge water slide for the yard from walmart that cost as much as their airfare! I am tempted to buy the tickets anyway! :rolleyes1

I was just able to use the great rate ($99 gov't at Swan/Dolphin) to convince DH. DH does NOT love WDW, but tolerates my needs. So, I limited the trip to a long weekend (2 nights) and promised that this would scratch my itch for a year. He went for it!

That is a great rate for those hotels! Is that the same as the teacher discount? I didn't look into those hotels. Do they offer the dining plan when you book there? $99 is cheaper than CBR!

The rate was the same for teachers, but I believe the booking date is passed. My deal was $99 /night, book by July 15 and travel by Sept. 30. Never hurts to call and ask, though.

Did you call them directly or did a TA do it for you? I can't find the teacher rate online.

Well, I went ahead and booked the airfare! Can't beat $177 each way for a family of 4! woo hoo! WDW here we come (again!) ::MickeyMo

Hi -- Sorry about the delay in responding.

I found the rate online at allearsnet, but the blurb indicated that you couldn't book on-line, so I called the 800 number and booked directly through the Swan/Dolphin.

Good luck -- maybe the extended the booking period? Although, you will be traveling during food/wine, right? That's probably why they originally ended the travel period on Sept. 30. :confused3

Tell him you understand his position and respect his thoughts , so if He doesn't want to go thats fine, You'll go without him. Betcha he'll have a change of perspective since his only savings will be his share. Send him a postcard. Good Luck. Even if this isn't practical it would be fun just to throw the idea out there and watch the response

Congratulations, Welcome Back (like us ;) ) I was going to tell you if you find a great airfare, book it, then you have to go..no turning back.
Have a great time! Teachers deserve a break, I'm glad you're splurging on yourself. Thanks for all you do for our kids!!

Awww thanks! DH is still not 100% sold in it but I am working on getting my ADRs together. PLUS, I just realized that MNSSHP was during those days! I have never been to it before!

BTW - when will you be there? I am skipping the Swan/Dolphin because our last day there is 10/3 and the $99 offer ends on 10/2. The rate for 10/3 is $339!!!

Nope, no dining plan at the non-Disney hotels. We have two little ones as well, and while we were eligible for a discounted Swan/Dolphin stay, our meals would definitely exceed the 'extra' room cost at CSR...let alone the meals/extra food we are actually getting on the meal plan.

In our case, it was a comparison of $154/nt incl all taxes for room & meal plan at CSR, versus $99+$10resort fee+~$13 taxes = $122 for room only. Clearly we'll be spending more than $30/day for meals throughout the day (it would be hard to feed one person on $30/day incl all tips and taxes, let alone 4 people).
