Like the title suggests, am going to Florida in Oct next yr mainly for WDW but would like to see the new HP expansion at US/IOA too. I know Oct is usually the time for pretty low crowds but does anyone know how the new WWOHP expansion will affect this?? TIA!! :

It will be very busy...no more slow periods at the Studios.

Thought this may be the case. As it's also going to be my mum's 1st visit to Florida, might give it a miss as don't want to hit her with a load of crowds when she wants to have a good time and do some quality bonding as a family (we're taking my DS as well who will only be 7 at the time and has some Autistic tendencies). Thanks for the confirmation though! :)

october has its crowds.

the studios closes early on the nights of HHN, which is a hard ticket event.
5:00 pm.

going on a tuesday or wednesday usually has better crowds for the parks except for hell week.

hotels usually fill up for weekends at UO in october.

Yes, I realise Oct will have some crowds on Halloween nights and the park shuts early for that. I visited both US and IOA a few weeks back with my DS and we never really had an issue with crowds. I just figured the HP expansion will mean a LOT more people in the parks wanting to see the new HP stuff. Am now thinking SW for a day and do their VIP tour. Really want to give my mum a good time but only really got a day or two to deviate from WDW. Thanks anyway though! :)

October is a great time to go - I love all the Halloween stuff. Also sounds like a nice family trip for you and your mum. Are you staying at a Universal resort?

No, we're booked to stay at WDW. Originally, it was just me and my DS going in Summer then my partner booked Club Level at Grand Floridian for Oct coz it worked out cheaper than 4 nights in Lapland! :) Then my mate booked WDW for same time in Summer to take her 2 kids and my folks decided to tag along... now my folks have decided retirement is for enjoying with family so are coming with us in Oct before flying to see my eldest bro in LA! :) My partner and dad are both into Golf so they're having a couple of Golf days and we were going to do either Universal or Seaworld with WDW the other days. My mum's a BIG kid and dad loves her too much to not let her do what makes her happy :)

October is traditionally slower time..BUT with the new expansion opening, Park trends and dynamics will likely change and it will be very crowded at least for the several months- first year or so following its opening.I would expect large crowds.I know we are going in early December 2014 and are expecting it to be busier than in the past

The golfing with be more expensive than Universal!!!

When is hell week? I tried to book Oct. 25 2014 on site and it said no rooms available. Will Monday night be okay or would Tuesday be a lot better. We are not going to Horror nights because we are bringing 8 yo granddaughter.

hell week is mid october (16 this year it started) and the next week.

local schools are out during the week and it makes the parks crowded.
