Our first DVC trip was in August. Light crowds. Then we went again in November after the American Thanksgiving rush. Light too.

We are going during the second week in March... how bad will it be? We might be spoiled now with the short lines.

In retrospect, we didn't have to go in March during the kids' March break as they are young enough that I don't have any reservation pulling them out of school at anytime during the school year. I won't be doing a March again for a long time as the airfare was $1800 for our family of 4. For our August trip, we only paid $600ish via Southwest, and that wasn't even the absolute best deal we could get.

Did I make a mistake going in March? It was that or deal with stir-crazy kids at home! (Plus I really miss Disney already...).

March will be busier than November but I don't think busier than August. 2nd week of March is call in fun Canadian week. You will see why. Majority of Cars in parking lots have Ontario Plates.

Joining you in the Sunshine State --yes it's busy but I'd rather be there than anywhere else!!

I've heard that Canada spring break (for public schools) commonly differs than spring break for US schools. Is that always the case? Or does each state have break-dates that vary a lot??

For reference, our (ontario) 2008 March Break is the 10-14th, and in 09 it will be the 16-20th.

Canadian spring break differs just as much as US spring break. US spring breaks start beginning of March and go through to the end of April, which is pretty spread out. I looks like the majority of US spring breaks fall around Easter (week before to week after).

Here in Manitoba, spring break always starts the last Monday in March, so for 2008 it's March 31 to April 4.

Hey, we will see you there! ;)

We too are heading to Disney World during Ontario's March break and will be staying at Beach Club DVC. We just bought a DVC membership there so this will be our first time there.

We have been at Disneyworld the last two March breaks and crowds were not too bad. At the parks if you get there early it is very good, often got busy in the early afternoon when fast passes started to go.

As for flying, if you are flexable you stll can get great rates at Southwest.
We leave on Sunday morning $99 each and return a week and a day later on the Monday $99 flight again.

No cheap flights out on the Saturday or returning home on either Saturday or Sunday.

Hi We went March break in 2003,2006 and are going this March break. For me the worst crowds were at the airports. So the first day can be hard on the young ones if you have the 630 AM flight out and you have been at the airport since 330AM! It takes time to get out of MCO as well. It was 130 PM by the time we cleared customs, retrieved luggage and picked up are rental car. The parks were not to bad, but you need to have a plan for park touring, use the boards there is great info here! This year we are flying on Westjet out of Toronto at 1030 am so we should be well rested.
Have fun

We spent our March Break @ WDW and DCL two years ago...we found the week before our Ontario March Break to be very light @ the parks. Then we headed onto the ship. We did hit the parks again right @ the end of our March Break for a day and it was quite busy but still not too bad.
I agree with grantclaire the worst crowds were @ the airport, now that was not a pleasant adventure....!!!

We are heading to Ft Lauderdale through West Jet on the Friday of March Break this year to head out on our cruise and we are hoping for not too bad of crowds...at least we are keeping our fingures crossed.

Have a great trip!

My hubbie and I are heading down for the Sunday-Wednesday during March break (we had a SW credit that had to be used by the end of the month) We actually managed to get flights $99 each way as we are slightly off in our days we are traveling. I'm hoping to miss the crowds at the airport as I would imagine most will be heading down Friday or Saturday.
Don't know what the crowds will be like but again, we're down without the kids soo... that means just doing OUR favourite rides and a couple of restaurants that probably wouldn't appeal to kids anyways. I would think the end of the week may be busier as it's closer to easter and many may have considered the end of March break to the end of easter weekend as a vacation time.

we were there last March Break and it was alos March Break for Florida and Texas and I personally thought it was busy! Given that Easter falls the 3rd weekend of March this year - basically the week after Ontario's March Break, plus a better dollar this year, I would prepare for crowds. If you had the option of moving to last week of Feb (after President's day) or going first week of March, I would.
