How Busy is the Early Morning Magic event?

Hello! My family and I have reserved tickets for the Fantasyland Early Morning Magic on May 2nd. I'm super excited but was a little concerned about a few things:

1. How were the crowds? Especially during later dates it was held last year? I heard they only let about 200 in. True?
2. Has anyone done it this year? has it even started yet in 2017?
3. How is the food?

If there is another thread about this, please direct me to it! TIA

Hi we did EMM in early January. It begins at 7:45am but we weren't even allowed into the park until 7:45 and then had to walk to Fantasyland. I was a little upset as I thought we'd be able to get in earlier and be right at 7DMT at 7:45. But it worked out fine. We rode 7DMT about 10 times in a row- got to pick which row and there was no wait. We went on Pooh twice, Peter Pan twice by 8:35am. We decided to eat breakfast. The buffet was great! Not alot of people there. We took our time and went out into the park at about 9:05. We did Haunted Mansion, BTMR, and Pirates with minimal waits. I thought this was a good value and we were three adults who have visited many times.

So there weren't a ton of people at the event? That's what I'm most concerned about.

No, there are very limited tickets to both DAH and EMM
We've done both several times

Sorry to cut in---Do they offer this during the very busy Christmas/New Years time frame?

My husband and I did this a couple weeks ago. It was dead. It felt like there was maybe 50 people there but it could have been more. Never more than a few people in front of us in line and most of the time there was no one. We did 7DMT 7 times, pooh once, and Peter Pan once. We had plenty of time to do everything more but we decided to go eat at that time. I was actually really impressed with the food. The bacon was well done and there was a really yummy chocolate pastry.

Did it a couple weeks ago.
I would say a couple hundred folks.
Could easily added more without impact.
Let us in Town Square at 7:50 so that was a bummer.
7DMT broke right away and did not come back up until 8:45.
Our wristbands let us in FP+ until noon ...
But if you wanted to utilize short am lines or had FP+ conflicted.
Breakfast was good but no where near as good as the one at DHS.
Nothing special.
I don't think we will do it again but if all is working it can be a plus.

That's good to hear! I was mostly concerned that it was gaining popularity and wouldn't be worth it anymore.

So you got FP+ 7DMT for 3 hours? That's great!

Yes it happened again the week after us. It was fine for us as we are AP and regular visitors. I easily switched my day around. But the reason we got it was ........... 7DMT. That was our main reason to even book it so they should be compensating for it.

But imagine that you don't go often, time is limited and you planned to use the first few hours the park was open to to SM, SM, BTM, etc and now those all get bumped out. You might also have your FP+ all booked for the morning so you can get more later. This impacts that.

I did two last year, one in June one in November - and we are somewhat regulars with APs. I am pretty certain the November one was sold out. Estimates on here have been in the 200 maybe 300 range. It is definitely not crowded at all.

Both times we've gone we were let in at 7:40, but as others have noted it looks like it has been more in the 7:45-7:50AM range lately with the new opening proedure.

In June, 7DMT was down when it started and we also had the unlimited access via the FP line through noon. Managers were all over the place when we arrived to explain and we felt it was adequate compensation. Thought it was handled well. It ended up opening around 8:30ish so we got a few rides in before park opening anyway and several more during the morning.

No ride problems with the November event, rode 7DMT more times than I can count. To be honest, I actually preferred when it was down and we could use the FP line later. It was a more relaxing pace.

Once the park opens we go and hit a couple of other major headliners, then eat around 9:45ish. Breakfast is adequate but it is a Disney buffet, so keep your expectations in check.

For us and our style, we LOVE EMM. Among the best $ we've spent on an upcharge event in our Disney travels to date.

This happened to us on 1/31 as well. 7DMT was down until around 8:50ish. They kept the standby line back until right at 9:00, so we could get a couple quick rides in with very little wait. Then our bands worked for all 3 rides as FP until noon.

It feels like very few people there, I'd say 200 or less is right. Even with one ride down, waits were still practically nonexistent on the other two.

We also got stuck on Peter Pan for several minutes first thing. They gave us 5-person paper anytime any ride FP for that inconvenience as we exited.

Overall, even with the bumps, we liked it and would do it again. We never buy the upsell events because we usually don't see the value for us, but this was a great experience for not much more than a character meal. I was bummed about not doing 7DMT practically empty at first, but my husband liked spreading the rides out better. I think we rode more times that way too. But we have several MK days, so we weren't on a tight schedule for other rides either. We ended up spending the morning riding 7DMT several times in a row, go to our FP, repeat.

I thought the breakfast was great - those chocolate pastries mentioned are pretty awesome. Quite a few options too. We ate about 9:45 am, and they were still keeping the buffet filled and hot. It was a quiet, relaxing meal after rushing around.

It's also nice to see all the CMs relaxed and having a good time. They tended to focus more on interaction when they weren't having to herd a thousand people through a line. When we were walking to Peter Pan first thing, one of the CMs even offered to park our stroller so that we could go ahead and get on the ride.

If they keep this on long term without increasing tickets sold drastically, I can see us doing this on future trips.

We do try the upsell events, so I am always breaking it down if I felt it was worth it or not.
We don't normally eat a big breakfast out so this was a splurge strictly for 7DMT access.

We had plain croissants as our only bread item ..... DS was not happy about that.
"Pastries" were a mass produced cinnamon twirl and a croissant with chocolate chips and some icing.
The interesting part was the cheese and meats.
Our eggs were either mass scrambled or this weird "fritatta" which was not a real one but strange egg jiggly thing.
I liked the chicken sausage for DS instead of the pork and I enjoyed the well cooked bacon.
I was comparing it to the DHS EMM and we thought that was much better.

I hope Disney will offer EMM at DHS again this summer. Out of the two EMMs, I prefer doing the one at DHS. However if both are offered, I would do both without hesitation !
