How Busy Is Peter Pan and Fantasyland at Rope Drop?

With the new "Anna and Elsa" rope drop procedure taking place now, how has this affected rope drop for Peter Pan and the other Fantasyland attractions? Has anybody gone lately and done these first? What kinds of waits did you see?

Yes, but what wait will there be right at rope drop? We plan on going there first, but I didn't know if the new rope drop procedure was making Peter Pan a bad rope-drop choice now unlike it used to be.

Pan is still going to build lines fast.

The line will build quickly. But if you are near the front of the RD and commit to making PP your first ride, it is a 0-5 minute wait. If you can get a FP for A&E and ETWB interests you, then go straight to PP, then to ETWB, then Pooh, then Dumbo and you will do just fine in the park's first hour.

There is no perceptible change from before. Be the first one there--wait almost nothing. Arrive just a little after that--prepare to wait.

I went straight to PP for rope drop and the line was continually moving as it loaded so it was not a long wait at all.

Sorry to chime in on an old thread, but can someone explain with the "new" Fantasyland rope drop, what we should do to get to Peter Pan after an 8:05 Crystal Palace ADR? Some older threads advised waiting at the hub to the left of the castle and going through Liberty Square to get to PP. Would this still be possible with the new Anna and Elsa procedures taking place, or where else should we stand after CP breakfast to be one of the first in line for PP?

Thanks!

I bet this is obvious but I always do Fantasyland first and I can't figure out what ETWB means?

I don't get why people go crazy trying to ride this. It's outdated, bland and not worth anything longer than a 5 minute wait. The only time we ever ride this is if it is basically a walk on. Otherwise, skip it and move along.

1) Peter Pan is in my Top 5 Disney movies.
2) It's cool and relaxing.
3) I have a 3 year old to whom everything will be new and exciting, and this one will be a good practice run for him because he has never ridden anything before.

Those are my reasons at least!! :goodvibes

People don't "go crazy" trying to ride this. The attraction has mass appeal, can be ridden by anyone (i.e. no height restrictions), and has very low capacity. This is the exact formula for long waits. See also: TSM, Soarin'.

If someone wants to wait 45, 60, 90, or 120 minutes to ride a ride, that's their business. You can go scramble your brains in the dark at Space Mountain if you like--that's the wide appeal of WDW.

This is probably my favorite ride at WDW. I know I've arrived when I sail through the Darling's nursery window and soar over London.

Yes, it's hokey, but I like hokey.

I will be in the same situation, with 8:05 CP ADR, wanting to ride PP first. If we get out of CP ahead of the rope drop crowd, where will that put us? Will we be able to go thru the castle at the front of the crowd???

THIS!!! Two years ago it was the very first MK ride I took my children on...and it will be the first again next summer!

Any attraction (well, except A/E) is still going to move standby the fastest at rope drop. FPs now start at RD, but people are still unlikely to make a FP return their first stop. They are more likely to do that closer to the end of their window. So from 9 to 9:30 is probably the time of day standby lines move quickest.

First..I haven't been since FP+ is for everyone (was there last summer when it was just testing).

I think it depends on time of year.. the few times we went Labor Day week there were times we went to MK for early EMH and got to ride PP 2 or 3 times in row with no wait. Didn't have to rush just went in park when it opened and walked to PP and went on and on...

Last couple of years we've gone end of August. We tend to go at rope drop and head for Fantasyland and don't have long waits (PP is not one of the rides however as it's not on DS list right now)

Another strategy is to have an early breakfast in park (we like CP) around 8am at least. This way you're in park down main street closer to Fantasyland. Have breakfast then head out to Fantasyland right before official rope drop. One time we did this and had to wait by rope at Fantasyland and we got to ride the carosuel with Lady Tremaine and the step sisters.
