How busy is it in February?

Hi everyone,

Thinking of going to WDW Feb 06 (approx 18th to 25th). Anybody know why this is classed as a busy time? I was thinking it would be more quiet than when we last visited in July, but according to the unofficial guide this is actually a busier time? This seems to be reflected in the room rates for this period, which are no cheaper than summer. Flight prices are still reasonable for this time though, so I presume there is not a huge no of uk visitors then.

Any advice on how busy the end of Feb is, appreciated. Also do the parks tend get busier at this time because less people use the pools/waterparks?

they probably categorize it that way because President's Day (a Monday holiday that falls between Lincoln's and Washington's birthdays) falls on February 20th this year. It's a national holiday, meaning everyone gets that Monday off, making it a long weekend. Whenever there are long holiday weekends i guess that increases the crowd level in WDW.

Also, some schools in the states get 'winter breaks' some time around this time.

But still I can't imagine that it's as crowded in the parks as in July. But I've never been there in February, so I don't know.

President Week (alot of schools get a full week off for Presidents now) can be very busy. Still, not like Easter or Christmas, but to give you an idea, MK is open 9am-12am on that weekend. (Feb 18, and Feb 19), and 9am-11pm for the rest of the week.

I live in the states and our schools take the week of presidents day off. We will be going down for 17 days Feb. 10-26. I also keep my kids out an extra whole week. My children love me LOL. It is not as busy as easter or summer like they have stated above. We love it because we get the heck out of the snow and cold. We had wonderful weather last year when we went down. I don't think you will be sorry.

We went very late Jan-early Feb. Was there at that time in 2004. Wonderful time to go. VERY quiet in most parks on most days. Only had to wait 30 mins for one ride the entire time we were there. (Its a small world!).

Universal Studios/IOA were almost empty and you could walk on Hulk without ANY waiting!

Late Jan/early Feb is excellent, however last time we went at this time of year, the second week was quite noticeably busier, especially with UK half term which often has an added inset day (what I know as a Baker day). The early part of Feb also had the cheerleading competitions making value resorts like ASMo busier, especially for catching buses. The weather can be a bit chilly, although not as chilly as the -10 we've currently got!

I agree the weather can be chilly - we went early March this year and it was by Florida standards very cool most mornings barely reaching 70 degrees a lot of the time.

There is no guarantee of nice weather in February.

We are going early Febraury and went early February 3 years ago - weather was ok - not necessarily shorts weather but was pleasant. In fact we would go for breakfast and it would be slightly chilly and when we came out from breakfast it would be warm! :flower:

Hotel prices seem to bump up around Presidents day too!

we have gone a few times the last week/first week of march and weather
is a toss up, but crowds are great. never waited in line for anything. I would
rather wear pants and have no crowds.

I think it's best to try and get the best balance of low crowds and nice weather.
I do think February and March , whilst the parks will be quiet it is a bit too chilly for us - having said that we are now restricted to going in August when obviously it is a bit too hot.

The weather in the early months in Florida I believe is getting more unpredictable , the average temperature for March is about 80 degrees, however most days it wasn't reaching 70 when we were there.

Worth checking re the waterparks - usually one will be closed during winter months due to rehab.

Also been twice in early Feb 2002 & 2004 - both times weather was on the whole very pleasant (like 'normal' Summer here) - even though thunder storms were forecast for several days these never happened, and several days were roasting hot !
However, it is cool in the evenings and mornings - so layers are the order of the day. Other posters are right - it can be a mixed bag.

As for the crowds ..early Feb parks were busy, but not seriously busy.

This year we have also made the mistake of booking second half of Feb thinking weather would be better for our Disney cruise... however we are doing less parks (more non Disney such as KSC) and because we have been before there is less pressure on to experience everything...so we are going to just going to take it as it comes.

We have also pre booked CRT for 8.10am so we will get into MK very early. :Pinkbounc

Blizzard Beach is open in February and WetnWild (off site) is open all year round.

funny - since this was posted, we've been thinking of popping over in February (since DS may have a window of opportunity then, which won't open again for more than a year)...

because of this post, i'm trying to bring us in for about 10 days towards the beginning of february, so as to avoid presidents' week....so thanks for posting this...
