How busy is it immediately after X-Mas?

I have always wanted to see Disney at Christmas, but it just never seems to happen. I'm hoping to be able to go again this January-but just had a brillant idea :cool1: . Since part of the kids x-mas gift is a trip to Disney, why not go a day or two after X-Mas?

I know that New Year's Eve is VERY busy at Downtown, but how about the parks?

I'll be experiencing my first Christmas trip at WDW this year, but from what I've read on these boards and heard from others the parks are really busy after Christmas. I've heard January is pretty good about low crowds, though. (After New Years, of course)

It is so crowded that during that time Cast Members cannot bring in Guests using their Main Gate Passes. The block out dates are MK 25-31, AK 26-30, MGM 27-31 and EC 31.

All hotel rates are at what is called "holiday rates" with no discounts.

The week between Christmas and New Years is the busiest time of the year. It can be CRAZY at that time! We have been at that time twice and the first time we tried to do the parks during that time. It was very busy and we couldn't ride too much. The last time we did the parks before Christmas and did other things after that. It can be fun at that time of year if you don't expect to ride a lot of the rides. We love WDW at Christmas!!

Have fun and enjoy WDW at Christmastime!

I believe that the Unofficial Guide refers to the week from CHristmas to New Year's as the "Nightmare on Main Street". By January 2nd/3rd the crowds are generally getting smaller.

i was supposed to visit WDW on that week before i headed off to the cruise but thanks to the very helpful DISers on this board switched it to Jan 7th which is supposed to have much lower crowds! whatever you choose i hope you have a magical vacation! :wizard:

We were there Dec 26-Dec 30, 2004 for our very first trip. My then DD5 was crying and crying. When I asked why? She said all she could see were butts. It is very crowded, but we had overplanned thanks to the Dis boards. (SHHH, is there such a thing?) and had a great time. So much so that we are now planning our 3rd trip. This one will also be that very busy week between Christmas and New Years. :Pinkbounc Good luck and have fun. You can make a lot of your own magic with a little time and reservations. Have a great trip!
