I keep seeing posts about the crowds getting worse in October. We are considering changing from a DCL cruise the first week in October to a WDW trip.

How crowded? When?

I am soooo spoiled after taking two (awesome) trips the first week in December. NO crowds! The boys are too old to miss a week of school now

We went oct 16-21st and the crowds werent bad at all. The lines were a little long at EPCOT on the 17th but not overly bad.

I would definately go again in Oct. The weather was very warm as well.

I did all my reservations 90 days out and then they posted EMH and were were trying to avoid them so there wouldnt be as many lines but unfortunately most of the days and the parks we picked were EMH but it didnt seem to be all that bad - except EPCOT.

We went with the flow and all worked out well

We were at Disney October 19-24 low crowds at all parks except Epcot. Weather was very hot and humid. Only one shower all week.

Great week. I would do this time of year again.

We went 10/28 thru 11/4. Crowds weren't bad. We never waited more than 25 minutes, and that was for Soarin right at park opening. And the weather was PERFECT. We were never hot, just a little chilly in the evenings. (which is how I like it!) But the kids could still swim during the day.

As long as you avoid Columbus Day weekend, you'll be OK. That weekend is usually a sell out at the resorts. The rest of the month is busy, compared to May. While not busy like Christmas or Easter, it is not quiet like mid-January or September. But as we go more and more, there is hardly a quiet time to go anymore. BTW: We have gone in October for 12 years in a row now. (Along with 12 years in a row for May too, so have been watching the changing crowds year after year).

2002, 2003 and 2005 in WDW during the last week of October. Waits of about 15 at the most, enough room in restaurants without reservation... never any problems... will go again during October...

We were there October 16th - 23rd. We did fine. Hurricane Wilma visited on the 16-17th so I think there were Tropical patterns in the weather preceeding the hurricane. At any rate it was very HOT and HUMID, more so than I have ever experienced in October.
This was our 4th October trip. We love this time of the year. But we have also found that each trip the parks were more crowded than our past trip. October has become popular. It is now regular season rates, and it was not in the past. The Food and Wine Festival is very popular, there is Super Soaps Weekend, Jersey week, the Golf tournament, and I think an Art Show in DTD.
I have not been during a Holiday week, so I can not compare to that, but it is definitely more crowded than in the past.
That said, it was not unmanagaeble and we will go again in October.

October was more crowded than I would have predicted. Saturday in the MK was absolutely awful (never again will we do that!). However, the weather is pleasant and the crowds are certainly manageable with FP. I would go again at that time, but I'd know to expect moderate crowds.
