How busy in December?

Hi everyone!

My name is Steve and I'm pretty new to the forum - really enjoying reliving the memories of our trip to DLP earlier this year and getting more information about our next vist.

In February, we spent a 3 night/4 day stay at the Hotel Santa Fe and I must say that it really is the most magical place we've taken our two girls.
It was freezing and windy, but I've never come across so many good natured people working anywhere! The place was amazing, but the staff just took it to another level :goodvibes

We enjoyed it so much we want to return already...so I'm thinking of booking a trip early in December, so I have a queston for anyone else who has visited at this time of year.....just how busy is it?

Obviously, a place as nice as DLP is always going to be busy, but what can we expect in the first week of December?

I want the kids to experience the Christmasy magic of it all, but I don't think it'd be worth it if it was too over crowded to enjoy it.....

Thanks in advance
Steve

DW and I are going to DLP in early December 6th-9th staying at the Sequoia Lodge. We choose that week after reading all the December trip reports for the last year or two and reading the guide books.

They all said how quite the parks were as the schools had not broken up for their Christmas breaks yet.

I'm realy looking forward to be going back to DLP at Christmas season, the photos I have seen make the place look so magical.

We are going mid week so we can avoid the weekend crowds the parks normaly get.

Hi there!

I was looking at going either the same week you mentioned, or the week before...i'll have to have a search round for the trip reports you talked about.

I know what you mean about the pictures - we've all been looking at dozens of photos as well as lots of videos on Youtube...I dont know who's more excited - me or my two girls :lmao:

Thanks for the reply.
Hope you have a lovely time!

Steve

I was at DLP midweek at the very beginning of December last year - it was our quietest trip to The Magic ever. If you haven't already, have a read of our trip reports from around that time :) -

Hi there,

thanks very much for the lovely welcome!
I can imagine this being the happiest forum ever...lots of people recalling memories or sharing plans about such a wonderful, magical place :goodvibes

Thanks for the links to, I'll be sure to have a read through them all.
Sounds as if the first week in December may be the week for us :)

Thanks
Steve

As I said on another thread the 8th of December is a holiday in some European countries and so some Europeans have time off work/school around this date (but not all) so I always try to go the week before. This year we're going on the 30th of November and back on the 4th of December. Weekends are crazy, the place is really packed with lots of queues for rides but if you can go mid-week you will be pleasantly surprised. There will be enough visitors to give DLP a great atmosphere but you won't have to queue long for many of the rides (there are always exceptions though!). I have found though that some of the shows are only on at the weekend so we try to get a flight home late on a Saturday night and on that morning we go into the park early to catch shows such as the Winnie the Pooh show in Fantasy Land, do a bit of shopping and then head to the airport. It means we don't have to do any waiting for rides at the weekend. Christmas is magical at DLP so you will have a great time!! :santa: Hope this helps.

Hi PrettyP,

Thats really helpful - thank you!
I'd no idea about public holidays in early December, so its helped me decide that the first week is the one for us.

I've been online today checking out prices - looks like theres a good offer on if i book before the end of Sept.....now to decide whether to be brave again and do the driving myself....that the only bad part about it - i'm remembering how tired I was last time :sad2: Oh well, its more than worth it :goodvibes
