Have never been during Feb, how busy should it be? What type of weather to expect?

Any less busy Feb 29th to March 7th? Thought it would get busier as it appraoches spring break., but haven't bought the tickets so are still flexible. Any opinions?

Feb 29 only gets busy about every four years. ;)

The cheerleaders arrive (with us in tow) on the 27th and stay until the 1st of March.

What cheerleaders/groups arrive at the end of February? My dates changed to March 1-7th so I'm wondering if there is any groups or big events around my dates.

The dance competition starts on 2/26 & 27, the cheerleaders 2/28 & 29, then dance & drill 3/5 - 3/7. All held at WOS Milk House. My step-daughters are staying at an All-Star resort, just not sure which (we're staying at the Dolphin... far far away from the cheerleaders). I know the cheer package is arrive on 2/27 leave on 3/1. The girls are only cheering on 2/29, but I heard all day practice on 2/28.

This is a "Nationals" competition, so it's a huge deal, they're really there to practice & compete. We were told that the girls would get park time on Friday after they arrive and settle in, and MAYBE on Saturday. Not on Sunday, and an early flight home on Monday.

Since my step-daughters are traveling with their mother, we doubt we'll even get to see them, unless we can track them down at the competition. They know we will be there to support them, but don't have high hopes of spending time with them.

Thanks 01Sweetpea! So is there no one there from the 1st to the 5th? We're checking out on the 7th so a day or two can't be that bad...can it?!?! We're staying at the CBR and hoping that any group that is there during our stay is at the All-Stars! Hopefully it won't be as crowded as spring break!

They SHOULD all be leaving on the 1st, except for families (like us) who are making a vacation out of this. Usually the competitions run on the weekends with the kids arriving Thurs. or Fri. and leaving Sun. or Mon. It's usually a 3 night deal.

I doubt there will be much during the week.

I am curious how crowds in general are (other than the cheerleaders) on Feb 21-28. I ended up sick with the flu 2 days into our trip last week and we had to come home early. We are looking for dates to go back and was hoping this would be a decent alternative. Please compare to crowds during other times of the year.

Thanks for your help!

You will have some crowds of people wearing purple, green and gold since it is Mardi Gras and many New Orleanians escape the madness since most children have the week off from school.

Mardi Gras is the 24th, but most people go to whatever balls and/or parades they are going to over the weekend and then come on Sunday or Monday and stay for the week.

With that said, most of the "crowds" we see during that time are other people we know from the city - I think it is a great time to go! :jester:

We will be there from February 21 to 25. Schools here are closed for Mardi Gras the 23, 24 & 25.

We will be there Feb. 22-29. One Dining CM I chatted with said the Mardi Gras crowds are just a small blip in attendence levels. I had absolutely not trouble making PS for all the times I wanted. Also, two years ago we were there Feb. 6-12, the first few days were heaven (empty parks, no lines) but over the weekend things changed with the start of Daytona Week and Mardi Gras, never the less we had no trouble in the parks as long as we used fast pass.:D
